Urgent need of Jr. Security Engineer ==== Sterling, VA

Role: Jr. Security Engineer 

Location: Sterling, VA

Duration: 6 months Contract to hire.

Must be local to VA 

US citizen or Green Card Holder required. 

Interview: Phone + F2F 

40hrs/wk (Shifts listed below), MUST be open to shift work

Shifts: Can pick one of the following options that rotate every 4-6 months: 

Option 1 (rotate within these 3 schedules):

Sunday – Wednesday 

• 6 AM- 4 PM

• 2PM – 12AM 

• 10 PM – 8 AM

Option 2 (rotate within these 2 schedules):

Thursday – Saturday 

• 7 AM- 8 PM

• 7 PM – 8 AM

Job Description:

1. 2-5 years of Systems/Network background (flexible on years of experience) 

a) Understanding of protocols and well known ports 

a. Understand DNS

b. OIS Model: Layers 3,4 and 7. 

b) Plus: Understanding of BGP

2. Must have 2+ years with Linux/Unix

a) Ability to navigate systems in Linux at the command line 

a. Plus: ability to write or modify scripts at the command line (Perl, Python, Korn Shell (ksh), bash) 

b) Troubleshooting 

c) Example: Provide high alerts from Monday – Friday. Would generate a script to pull information. 

d) MAJOR Plus: run Linux at home, built their own system, understand how to operate a web server 

3. Ability to do traffic analysis: Tcpdump or wireshark experience 

a) Must have experience looking at traffic and doing packet analysis 

Pluses: 

• CCDC competition at John Hopkins

• Run a Linux lab at home

• Strong work ethic and very curious and excited to learn technology
