Senior Middleware Engineer
Position Summary
As part of the Integration team, you will work with application developers, integration developers, Linux/Windows system administrators, database administrators, network engineers, project and business management to implement, maintain and enhance existing middleware systems and infrastructure. The middleware systems environment consists a heterogeneous mix of systems including Mulesoft API/ESB and Websphere MQ, Axway SecureFTP, as well as custom middleware components.
Responsibilities include implementation, management and administration of Mulesoft Anypoint, WebSphere MQ, JBoss, Tomcat, J2EE/Java EE applications and environments with ownership of web and application layers for internal/external enterprise applications and sites. Environments include mixture of messaging, application servers and middleware components. Job will require configuration, integration between messaging services and Java application layers, deployments, tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and a general J2EE/Java EE component knowledge including SOA (ESB, BPM etc…). The ideal candidate has demonstrated the ability to adapt to technology shifts over time. The role must work collaboratively with other team members across technical disciplines. The ability to work within a flexible, changing environment is a must as we are often learning by trial and error, proof of concept and detailed analysis.
Position Requirements
· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field
· Eight (8) or more years of technical experience; with at least 4 years working on enterprise level projects and systems.
· 3 or more years of experience in MQ Administration and some applications.
· 3 or more years of experience in ESB and/or API gateway Administration and some applications.
· 3 or more years of experience designing, developing, administering and monitoring message flows and web services using Eclipse, Java, XML, IBM WebSphere MQ.
· 3 or more years of experience in designing, developing, and administering systems using J2EE (EJB, JCA, JTA, etc.), Web Services (REST, JSON, XML, SOAP, WSDL, UDDI, BEPL, etc.), JMS, AMQP, WMQ, and ESQL.
· Knowledge and experience with API, Web Service, and messaging security standards, protocols and technologies, including TLS/SSL, OAuth, WS-Security, SAML, LDAP, SFTP, and PKI.
· Very good knowledge of Horizontal and Vertical scaling of the IBM MQ Platform.
· Good understanding of Networking concepts, operating systems, security and applications.
· Knowledge and experience with Enterprise API solution administration, such as MuleSoft, Layer7, etc.
· Experienced with continuous integration and deployment
Technical Skills
· Administration, troubleshooting and architecture support of
o Mulesoft API/ESB
o IBM WebSphere MQ
o Red Hat JBoss, Apache Tomcat application servers and web servers
· Command line, troubleshooting and networking experience with
o Unix/Linux
o Windows Server OS skills
· In-depth knowledge of J2EE framework applications to improve performance and stability.
· Skilled in configuration and build automation technologies, including Maven, Hudson, and Jenkins
· Experience of any scripting language like Bash, Perl, Python, or similar scripting language.
· Experience with container technologies, including Docker
· Monitoring and Logging Technologies
· Ability to write, use and update scripts to automate daily operations
· Strong knowledge and understanding of network and network security technologies (Active Directory, TCP/IP networking, SSL, Firewall, Proxy, Load Balancing)
· Full use and application of standard IT principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
· Very detail oriented and experience working in a production environment using Change Control practices and working under technical project plans and timelines.
Desired Technical Skills
· Coding experience in Java, JSP, Servlet, J2EE and Java Script
· Enterprise Service Bus and SOA (Base Principles, Governance and Security)
· Web Service / API security protocols, including including TLS/SSL, OAuth, WS-Security, SAML, LDAP, SFTP, and PKI; experience configuring API gateway / ESB / messaging security
· Experience optimizing IT services through automation, standardization, process improvements and/or continual improvement programs
· Web Content Management
· Business Process Modeling and Server
· Ability to troubleshoot issues outside of middleware spaces (OS, Network, Database, SAN)
General Knowledge Skills
