I have a new req. for a BSA at Charles Schwab. The job description below is very detailed but overall this position simply boils down to the manager looking for a seasoned Business System Analyst who is very familiar and has years of experience in Data Warehousing. Big data is a nice to have but a not a must have.
The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) role in Global Data Technology (GDT) at Schwab is primarily responsible for being the information conduit between business product owners and ETL development resources. This requires an ability to elicit and refine requirements with business participants, assess the existing GDT data assets, identify the impact from the current requirements, and design an effective implementation framework to address those requirements. As a result, candidates must be articulate, demonstrating a proven ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and concisely, applying these abilities as they articulate technical requirements to non-technical audiences, and vice-versa.
Candidates must demonstrate an ability to work across the full span of data warehouse components, eliciting information and refining understanding until the needs of the business are clearly articulated and answered by the solution designed. Implicit in this is the ability to analyze scenarios, driving to understanding of root issues, performing causal assessment, and synthesizing this information into solution designs targeted at answering the issue. Candidates must be detail oriented, with a focus on ensuring the solution captures the full scope of the business issue, with clear delineation of MVP and fully implemented end-state.
Required Skills:
· Demonstrable understanding of data warehouse design and data modeling methodologies at an enterprise level
o Clear understanding of the challenges that scale and heterogeneous source environments pose
· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences
· Analytical capability for:
o Root cause identification
o Data source rationalization
o Data quality assessment (on both originating source and transformed target)
o Data reconciliation
· Relational database utilization for enterprise level data warehouse implementations
o Teradata preferred
· Transformation process design leveraging ETL tools
o Informatica experience beneficial
· Working understanding of the use cases for big data environments and tools in a data warehouse ecosystem
· BA/BS Degree
Desirable Additional Skills
o Working knowledge of brokerage services
o Working knowledge of banking services
o Understanding of regulatory framework applicable to financial services and banking industries
