Description:

 

Role & Responsibilities:

Subject matter expert - AIX administration

Respond, troubleshoot, diagnose, propose and implement countermeasures for production IT Infrastructure through direct interaction with fellow staff members and full incident engagement

Monitor production system IT Infrastructure environment performance on a daily basis to ensure adequate performance & response times for production applications.  Current systems (subject to change): IBM AIX, IBM DB2, IBM WebSphere, IBM MQ Series, etc.

Establishes and documents environment and procedures to ensure data integrity including system fail-over and backup/recovery with zero downtime mindset

Report key performance indicators of production system IT Infrastructure monthly

Ensure software license compliance, certificates and vendor maintenance of production system IT Infrastructure

On call support 24x7

Tasks:

Execute system changes for application development team - e.g. deploying new applications, adding / updating db2 objects, configuring new message queues and configuring new alerts

Monitor production system IT infrastructure, respond to issues as needed and complete problem reporting

Apply fix packs, installation of new versions and execute test cases to confirm no issues after change(s) implemented into production

Create and deploy custom monitoring scripts (Nagios

Required Skills:

Use IBM Hardware Management Console (HMC) and / or Systems Director Management Console (SDMC) to manage system resources

Ability to install, configure, backup and restore IBM AIX, DB2, WebSphere and message-oriented middleware

Manage and configure Virtual I/O client partitions

Proficient with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio

Provides technical subject matter expertise for daily operations and related projects based on business requirements as requested by supervisor

Ability to use SQL to SELECT, SORT, GROUP, INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE DB2 data, ability to use scripts for automating day to day tasks

Nagios monitoring script creation and server management

Desired:

Experience with Websphere, MQ, and DB2

Position Factors:

Strong communication skills, customer service mindset

Work assignment location is Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, LLC Greensburg, IN.  Potential for North America travel to other Honda facilities

Ability to work in a fast paced, open work environment where production or system downtime requires immediate attention even if cause is unknown

Overtime, frequency depends on business needs and support requirements for HMIN production infrastructure

On call availability, PC equipment & access provided for quick response to incidents, anytime;  providing support, troubleshooting & resolve remote or on-site

Weekend and or adjusted shift required to execute & verify system changes for the application,  Application hardware or software

Open office environment, align with all plant policies and all HMIN required training

Overtime:

Less than 5 hours per week on normal basis
