Description: We need a Sr. Cognos Expert for our direct client in Ontario, CA for a 6-12 month contract plus possible extensions. The candidate must have 8-10 years' experience and have extensive experience with Framework Manager, Dashboard, Active Reports, Cognos 10.2 and also Mobile experience.
Job Summary
Sr. Cognos Developer is expected to mentor junior team members and guide them with best practices. As an integral member of our team, the Business Intelligence (BI) Report Developer is responsible for the design, development, implementation and support of mission-critical enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) reports. Working with cross-functional teams, this person will participate to gather and document reporting requirements to meet business needs. Using skills and experience as a BI Report Developer, this person will then use those requirements to design, develop, test and implement reports and dashboards that utilize the underlying data source(s)/ data warehouse(s) / data mart(s). Interaction with architects, analysts and other developers will be a major factor.
Detailed Description
• Participate in business analysis activities to gather required reporting and dashboard requirements
• Translate business requirements into specifications that will be used to implement the required reports and dashboards, created from potentially multiple data sources
• Transition developed reports and dashboards to the Operations & Support team
• Provide support as required to ensure the availability and performance of developed reports and dashboards for both external and internal users
• Ensure proper configuration management and change controls are implemented
• Provide technical assistance and cross training to other team members
• Provide training, user documentation and assistance to end users as required
• Design and implement technology best practices, guidelines and repeatable processes
• Provide reporting, analysis and insightful recommendations to business leaders on key performance metrics pertaining to finance, Sales, Marketing, purchasing, manufacturing and warehouse operations
• Lead and participate in new development requests, enhancements, and project initiatives.
• Provide team leadership to BI staff while collaborating and coordinating with other Business applications and End users
• Support existing Cognos reports and fine tuning the reports for optimal performance
• Follow and implement Business Intelligence best practices and architectural standards
• Collaborate with Oracle ERP Analyst to identify and resolve data quality issues
• Participate and handle full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Participate with ERP development team to convert legacy reports (Oracle Discoverer reports) to Cognos BI solutions
• Provide guidance on best practices for setting up and deploying Cognos reporting solution
• Coach / mentor other team members as appropriate to facilitate their professional development

· 2-4 years – Experience in Oracle SQL
Preferred:
· 10+ years – Experience in designing dashboards using Report Studio

· 3-5 years – Experience building Active Reports
