Tools Developer ( Java Platform )
Location : SFO,CA
Duration : 6-12 Months
The Candidates should have a strong focus on developing Java applications, Web application frameworks and be a polyglot developer in the JVM. This position requires strong subject matter knowledge in designing and developing continuous integration and software development lifecycle solutions. In particular, extensive knowledge of J2EE standards, best practices, and hands-on experience with infrastructure stack, development tools and web application frameworks is essential.
Responsibilities for Tools Development Role:
- Build and manage the next generation tools for our continuous integration, automated testing and release management needs.
- Develop automation solutions to make the software delivery process as reliable and efficient as possible. This role will also drive improvements to ensure a repeatable and reliable process – thus you will be working closely with development, QA, and product teams. The automation solutions you develop will define how our application and infrastructure code gets built, packaged, assembled, deployed, monitored and alerted on in our preproduction and production environments.
- We look for self-starters who thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment – providing expertise in many layers of the Application and Infrastructure stack, being able to adapt to changing tools and technologies quickly, initiative and eagerness to learn new technologies. But most importantly – we look for people who can prioritize, multi-task, and deliver to timelines.
- Stays up to date with web and mobile technologies
- Work closely with our integration engineering teams to understand how applications function, the software and processes required to run and monitor them.
- Work with a team of engineers through technical analysis, design, construction, deployment and support of scalable software delivery automation solutions. Conduct design and code reviews as part of the solution development process
- Excellent written and verbal Communication Skills, ability to communicate with technical groups effectively.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Computer Sciences or Information Systems
- 7+ years of software engineering with specific focus on developing Java applications for large scale web properties
- 5+ years experience building Java web applications. Solid understanding of Java 1.6+ SDK
- Experience with unit-testing and functional-testing frameworks for Java web applications.
- Solid understanding of build management frameworks like Ant, Maven specifically around using their Java APIs.
- 3+ years experience in developing applications and tools in one or more of the following languages - Groovy, JRuby, Ruby, Perl, Jython, Python
- 2+ years experience with at least one deployment and provisioning tool like Chef, Puppet, Capistrano
- Good understanding of Linux/UNIX/POSIX systems tooling
- Past professional experience of working at the interface between development and operations.
- Experience building continuous integration solutions using Repository managers like Nexus, Artifactory, Archiva especially with the REST and/or JCR (Java) API
- Experience in developing solutions on one or more continuous integration tools like AnthillPro, TeamCity, Bamboo, Jenkins especially with focus on using their APIs
Preferred Skills:
- 3+ years of experience SDLC building solutions with one or more defect tracking, issue tracking and Incident Management tools like JIRA, Clear Quest, Remedy ITSM
- Client side products: knowledge of multiple client OS's, such as Windows/Mac/Linux/iPhone/Blackberry/Android
- Experience with agile, test-driven software development and continuous integration
- Familiarity or experience with integrating Quality frameworks, plug-ins and tools like Selenium, PhantomJS, Sonar, Findbugs, Coverity, Fortify is a plus
- Knowledgeable with Red Hat package management (rpm and yum, building rpms, maintaining a yum repo)
- Experience with Restful resource-oriented web services
- Experience with Content Delivery Networks like Akamai, Edgecast, etc
- Productize and operationalize logging infrastructure in the cloud.
- Cloud automation and tools development.
