Role: Network Engineer/Firewall Operations Support

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Duration: Multiyear Contract

Rate: $40/ Hr on C2C

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will be part of a Network Security Management team supporting Business and Technology initiatives.

 

THE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

 

1.)    Maintain availability of Network Security infrastructure by providing emergency incident response, device health monitoring and general troubleshooting support.

2.)    Providing technical support for service request issues, customer engagements and internal projects.

3.)    Performing security policy review/approval as well as documenting customer requirements for escalated security review by senior engineers.

4.)    Support of automated operations within the Network Security platform.

5.)    Documentation and reporting of security policies, processes and procedures.

 

Candidates may also be tasked with firewall and proxy access review/planning, route and NAT features along with providing any needed analysis support with any post-implementation issues. This individual will assist with reviewing existing tools, applications and processes to help strengthen and optimize current capabilities, as well as identify any gaps or technical solutions to further enhance the team's effectiveness. Additionally, the successful candidate will support leadership, business and technology teams with technical recommendations, documentation and reporting. Extensive knowledge of firewalls, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS and troubleshooting techniques is required. Candidate must also have a basic understanding of a proxy solution for internet access.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·         Experience (+2 years) and knowledge and understanding of LAN and WAN expertise working with Cisco Firewalls, Routers and Switches

·         Knowledge with WAN technologies and protocols, including best practices designs and troubleshooting

·         Routing protocol experience (Static, OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP) redistribution and summarization.

·         A clear understanding of routing protocol metrics to aid in desired traffic flow.

·         Experience working with highly available and redundant networks

·         Knowledge of Spanning Tree and Switching Technologies

·         Clear understanding of Client / Server applications

·         Good knowledge and use of protocol analyzers (sniffers, etc

·         Proven problem solver with ability to provide in-depth analysis of complex problems, manage

risk and make quick decisions.

·         Excellent presentation/verbal communication skills and the ability to train and mentor other team members
Experience in relationship management and collaboration skills with external vendor partners, technology colleagues and business partners.

·         Cisco Certification preferred.

·         Palo Alto firewall experience preferred.

·         Object-oriented programming skills (Python or JAVA or .NET)

·         Database development experience (SQL, MongoDB, etc.)

 

MUST HAVE:

 

-Cisco Router/Switch experience

-Cisco IOS experience

-Cisco ASA experience (flexible here)

-Experience with Cisco ASA5505 (less preferred)

-Experience with Cisco ASA5520 and above (flexible here)

-CCNA (sort of flexible here)

-Good Communication/Customer-facing skills

-Willingness to learn new technology

-Flexibility on work hours as needed

-Quick learner

-Core/Distribution/Access layer knowledge

-Enterprise network experience (flexible here)

-ability to manually trace through network devices in a network (not using traceroute)

-Network monitoring tool experience.

 

GOOD TO HAVE:

 

-Cisco Nexus  experience

-Palo Alto experience

-CA Spectrum experience

-CCNP

-Servicenow or other enterprise ticketing experience

-Spectrum or any device monitoring experience

-Scripting (python, etc.) for making network tasks efficient/automated

 ADDITIONAL PLUSES:

 -F5 experience
