JOB DESCRIPTION

The Data Warehouse Senior Engineer is responsible for design, development, and implementation of enterprise UNIX Systems infrastructures as they relate to the Data Warehouse environment

This position collaborates with the Global IT Infrastructure Brand Service Delivery Leaders to ensure an understanding of business cases and to ensure that the appropriate UNIX solution is selected to meet the business need as it relates to the Data Warehouse implementation.

This role will support cross-departmental collaboration and internal communications with staff throughout the organization, as well as promoting a positive work environment that supports consistency and drives efficiency throughout the organization.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Deep understanding of physical Dell hardware R710 R720 – Mandatory
• Must be familiar with the OS support for Oracle RAC and be able to configure Oracle ASM volumes in preparation for handover to database administrators - Mandatory
• Installation and administration of Red Hat Linux Operating System 6-7 and other packages as needed for business applications
• Must possesses a thorough understanding of storage device administration such as the addition/removal of disks
• Ability to work with host based volume management systems such as Solaris ZFS or Linux Volume Manager
• Must be familiar with the OS support for Oracle RAC and be able to configure Oracle ASM volumes in preparation for handover to database administrators
• Perform system capacity planning and performance tuning
• Ability to work closely with various infrastructure teams for installing and configuring new systems
• Provide system support and troubleshooting expertise as needed
• Maintain patch levels across multiple systems, as needed for security and policy compliance
• Participation in 7x24 on-call rotation as it relates to the DWH environment
• Possible travel to Texas to support Data Warehouse DR environment.
• Perform other duties and special projects as required

 

POSITION SCOPE:

Responsibilities include the design, installation, configuration, tuning, and optimization of UNIX systems and related components to achieve high availability and performance for various business applications. Supports all UNIX Systems related to the Data Warehouse infrastructure
