Senior Java Architect

12 Months contract
Start date: ASAP
Interview process - Phone then f2f. Speak with architecture team (tech screen) and mobile team (leadership skills).
Key Skill ranking:
1) Java Architect / Leader (years don't matter as much as quality of experience)
2) Java / J2EE
3) Dissect a monolithic platform (used for their mobile platforms) into micro services
4) iOS 5, Android (most of the mobile will be backend server side)
5) JBoss is a big plus
Reporting to – chief architect
• 75% architecting // 25% hands-on
• (titles could be java architect or solutions architect)
• Mentor other developers
• "Sell" solutions to business teams
Projects
• Project would be taking the monolithic Mobile backend and breaking up into micro services. These will be containerized in Docker running on top of Swarm
• Work with architecture team and mobile application team in order to take some of the new architecture policies to help organize and bring to mobile application team
• Some hands experience on to implement frameworks
• Dev ops agile – expected to know, broad skills & knowledge – understand more than have hands-on knowledge
• Industry experience does not matter
We are looking for an experienced Senior Architect. This position will report to the Chief Architect and will work closely with the mobile application team. The candidate will be responsible for providing architecture support to this team as well as helping to mold the bigger technology roadmap. Qualifications of this candidate include being able to see the "big picture vision" and create solution frameworks that satisfy near term constraints that are in align with this vision. A great software architect has a broad strong technical background and excellent IT skills. They are experienced in designing and possess ability to develop a unified vision for software characteristics and functions. Soft skills - leadership, mentorship, and communication - are important as an architect to provide effective guidance to the different teams.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other professionals to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications
- Use tools and methodologies to create representations for functions and user interface of desired product
- Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility
- Define all aspects of development from appropriate technology and workflow to coding standards
- Communicate successfully all concepts and guidelines to development team
- Oversee progress of development team to ensure consistency with initial design
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers
- Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility etc.
- Experience in software development and coding in various languages (Java)
