Role: Data Scientist
Location : NYC, NY

Responsibilities :

·        Source the structured / unstructured data as required
·        Explore and analyze historical data and apply integrative thinking to identify trends
·        Understand the hypothesis presented by the hedge fund (e.g. Stock Volume is a predictor of abnormal stock returns)
·        Analyze business problems, generate hypotheses
·        Analyze data to prove hypotheses and make recommendations for improvement
·        Design statistical and mathematical models to evaluate hypotheses (like regression model)
·        Understand the outputs and recalibrate the model / data, test and validate the model
·        Use quantitative skills to assess model performance and develop reporting methodologies for those assessments
·        Assess model risks and limitations, and devise protocols to mitigate/adjust for those risk and limitations
·        Work with external model developers, financial analyst, and valuation agents to broaden understanding of financial markets
·        NLP & machine learning at later stage
·        Work efficiently in a high volume, fast paced, and deadline/results oriented environment
·        Work in onsite-offshore model by providing overlap with onshore analyst during EST hours

Requirements:
·        Experience in implementing analytical algorithms for capital markets, retail, insurance or healthcare domains
·        Excellent programing skills using Python, R, Scala, SQL, etc.
·        Expertise in looking at data and numbers in an analyst's way
·        Expertise in advance Mathematics, Statistics e.g. Multivariable Calculus, Game theory, Linear Algebra, Operations Research, etc.
·        Ability to decompose and solve a problem using various techniques
·        Ability to connect to various data sources and extract required data for analysis
·        Experience in creating models and model maintenance with large amounts of data
·        Excellent understanding of capital markets domain
·        Preferred Qualifications and experience
o        Bachelor's degree in a Quantitative disciple (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Economics)
o        5+ years in a similar profile (or at least of being data analyst)
