Build Release Engineer
Location: Chevy Chase, MD
Duration: 12-36 months+
· 2+ years' experience in developing and maintaining software deployment structures in a .Net environment.
· Experience with AGILE development, SCRUM, and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
· Knowledge and experience with Windows Azure
· Ability to write and implement scripts in PowerShell.
· Knowledge of insurance operations is a plus.
Staff augmentation for Underwriting Systems DevOps team. Support deployments and production operations.
· Create and manage build & deployment processes for .Net and packaged vendor solutions.
· Implement automation and continuous integration processes.
· Schedule and manage deployments to lower environments.
Assist with deployments to production environments, including the execution of the deployment plans and checklists.
· Collaborate with automated testing teams, monitoring teams, and infrastructure teams to ensure reliable deployments.
· Resolve dependencies and ensure that deadlines are met.
· Assist with application monitoring.
· Work with Development teams to align projects, releases, patches and other efforts
· Maintain the build environments for all software projects and releases
· Provide first level of support for application software issues in all environments
· Respond and own escalated production issues from problem identification through to final resolution.
· Provide on-time and frequent narratives and status updates to customers and management during escalations, incidents, problems, or projects.
· Participate in Post-Mortem meetings to discuss incidents and recommend changes.
Required Skills/ years of experience needed:
· 2+ years' experience in developing and maintaining software deployment structures in a .Net environment.
· Experience with AGILE development, SCRUM, and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
· Knowledge and experience with Windows Azure
Desired Skills
· Ability to write and implement scripts in PowerShell.
· Hands-on configuration skills with code management, work item, and continuous integration tools. Microsoft TFS and Release Management experience strongly preferred. Skills with similar tools (Perforce, SubVersion, Jenkins) is acceptable.
· Demonstrated knowledge of code branching and merging strategies.
· Demonstrated ability to work with Microsoft server and application logs and debugging procedures.
· Familiarity with DevOps concepts
· Working knowledge of AGILE development, SCRUM and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
· Proven ability to work collaboratively with development teams for results.
· Solid verbal and written communication skills.
· Knowledge of insurance operations is a plus.
