Full Description
Our client in Framingham, MA has a Temp to Hire opening for a Software Engineer.
This candidate will be working for the B2B group supporting the back office and handling account maintenance.
Will work on upgrade Websphere from 6.1 to 8.0.
Once trained candidate will have about 60% development and 40% mentoring.
Summary:
- As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be a key contributor on an Agile delivery team working on initiatives for the North America Commercial (Contract) business especially related to the Customer Systems.
- Will inform the business on the possibilities and opportunities that modern technology can provide for them.
- Participate in a dynamic, fast paced, and engaging environment to design and implement new proprietary applications on the Spring platform.
- Will be required to work effectively with your teammates and be detail oriented.
- Success on the Agile team will be measured by your ability to combine critical thinking with self-motivation, enthusiasm and determination.
- Will develop innovative solutions with your peers and you will have a direct impact on the success.
Responsibilities:
- Work as a member of an Agile Software Delivery Team to help implement new functionality based on business requirements.
- Expose service APIs
- Call REST endpoints in and out of the network
- Partner with QA to ensure complete unit and integration testing
- Partner with Data Analysts to influence a quality data model
- Co-managing a Shared Technology Platform
- Work directly with the technical leads and Architects to ensure the system is implemented as designed and in adherence to established implementation guidelines
- Partner with the business analysts to translate business requirements into core system capabilities
- Support the business during User Acceptance testing
- Contribute to evolution of developer tools and processes (Sonar/Crucible/Jenkins/Git)
Required Qualifications:
- Object oriented design abilities, solid understanding of software engineering frameworks, tools and processes
- 5 to 8 years overall technical experience
- 5+ years' experience with Spring/J2EE, REST, JavaScript, JQuery, SQL
- 2+ years Agile experience
- Excellent communication skills including verbal, listening, written documentation, influencing, facilitation, presentation skills for technical or business audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bootstrap experience a plus
- Knowledge or experience with Hadoop is a plus
- Knowledge or experience with Ruby and/or RAILS strongly preferred
- Experience developing and working with service oriented architectures
- Quality oriented mindset
- Personal organization skills
- Strong leadership skills
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related discipline, or equivalent experience
