Data Analyst/Job Description
· Analyze very large data sets spanning advertisers & publishers traffic to interpret patterns and distributions for such attributes as clicks, impress ions, page views, and revenue.
· Provide strong analysis so you can document findings, conclusions, and effectively make systems recommendations to identify and mitigate abuse within our advertising platform.
· Understand algorithms, tools, and techniques to efficiently investigate or shape invalid advertising traffic within search, mobile, and display advertising markets.
· Use statistical techniques to design models/framework that detect fraud and other traffic pattern risks and iteratively test, refine, and improve these models or framework.
· Serve as an escalation point for all traffic quality issues, from other support & services teams, Traffic Quality Engineers, and other team's Analysts to gather issue information, assess business impact and resolve issues escalating to product groups as needed for fixing or improving the product.
· Create traffic investigation post mortem and resolution documentation for issues with large impacts within the advertising platform. Composing timely worldwide correspondence, presentations or other materials to partners or customers as appropriate.
· Collaborate with relevant team members, developers, and Program Managers to ensure rules or algorithms are in alignment with business needs.
· Assist in creating processes or policy documentation in alignment with the business needs.
· Partner closely with Quality and development teams to identify bugs in the tool set and providing supporting analysis/ impact information to product groups.
· Participate in conferences/forums and industry events .
· Obtain, parse and evaluate large data sets in order to segment fraudulent from non -fraudulent payment events, and further employ strong data analysis skills to devise new risk rules for real time and post real time decision making .
· Collaborate closely with the Data Science and Operations Online Forensics teams to drive strategies involving both real time and post real time risk decision making, manual review strategy, and collaborative efforts with the various business groups.
· Influence team members with varying points of view in order to derive strong solutions to complex problems requiring expertise from multiple stakeholders.
REQUIRED SKILLS
· Bachelors in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field with a strong analytical emphasis required.
· Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Mining, Statistics, Finance, or Machine Learning desired.
· Minimum of 1-3 years of related work experience required.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills in order to convey information to colleagues, business groups, and members of their immediate team regarding current KPIs, trends, and reporting from advertising logs.
· 1-2 years working in web analytics,
· security, computer forensics, or algo trading preferably with organic or paid search technologies, web analytics tools or development, ecommerce, publishing network, and/or automated algo trading.
· Demonstrates high energy/creativity and a passion for analyzing highly complex data sets.
· Project management skills and strong debugging skills
· An entrepreneurial spirit and relentless customer focus
· Practical understanding of quantitative methods, and superb attention to detail.
· Black/White Hat experience with a strong emphasis in malvertising.
· Extensive knowledge and experience in at least two of the following areas: data mining, web mining, machine learning, statistics, business intelligence/customer intelligence, user modeling, information retrieval, databases, data warehousing, OLAP, data processing (ETL), emetrics/measurement, parallel and distributed computation (two or more areas are preferred).
· Strong theory/algorithm background and very good understanding on how to apply advanced knowledge to solve real problems.
· Ability to be flexible taking immediate ownership of unanticipated fraud/traffic quality scenarios, and responding to ad hoc investigation requests.
· Communicate efficiently data mining results to a broad technical and non technical audience.
· Functional understanding of different types of malware, adware, viruses, replication methods, indicators, obfuscation and potential effects.
