Distributed DB2 Engineer

Location: Lincolnshire Area or Chicago downtown IL (Only GC and citizen)

Client: Insurance

 

 

This is a contract position for a Distributed DB2 DBA with minimum of 10 years of experience.

• Engineering solutions for established data centers, private cloud, public cloud and new data centers

• Experience installing, configuring and maintaining DB2 on Linux, Unix and Windows

• Expertise in other platorms such as MongoDB, Cassandra, MariaDB or Informix IDS also highly desired

• Prepare specifications and make recommendations for database architectures for new business applications, and enhancements/upgrades to existing database architectures per application requirements for complex enterprise-wide solutions.

• Create overall database design and architecture.  Develop clear, concise and accurate detailed database designs that can be efficiently used by junior database administrators and developers.

• Facilitate communication across the infrastructure areas and development teams to ensure delivery and alignment.

• Responsible for overall database integration.  Work with internal application teams, infrastructure teams, outside vendors, and consultants to create seamless and dependable links between systems.

• Understand and implement to meet audit and compliance standards, procedures, and controls in a Sarbanes-Oxley and SAS 70 influenced environment

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills are necessary.

• Highly organized, structured, and process oriented.

• Ability to work independently as well as with a team.

• Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to collaborate with internal and external business/technical teams.
