Title: Performance Engineer
Location: Rochester, NY
Duration: Long term
Required:
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 1-3 years of experience in IT functional and performance testing.
• Experience with automated testing tools a plus but not required.
• 1-3 years of experience and the following skill sets:
- testing applications on Windows and Unix/Linux platforms
- testing multi-tiered and distributed applications
- programming languages such as C++, Java, C, .Net, Delphi, Visual Studio
- shell scripting languages such as Perl, Bash
- web servers IIS, SunOne
- servers such as BEA Weblogic, Microsoft .Net, Jboss
- Databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, Informix
• Have used automated test tools like: Mercury LoadRunner, WinRunner, Quicktest Pro.
• Database or application tuning experience a plus.
Looking for someone with good LoadRunner experience. This person will shoulder most of the work related to running our sanity tests regularly, as well as our regression testing.
They must be able to read/write script code (LoadRunner, service tests, JavaScript). Must be able to execute these tests and ideally troubleshoot relatively basic to moderate issues that arise during these tests and then involve our more senior engineers if the issues in running these test cannot be resolved.
They need to be good at documenting results and clearly communicating issues.
They do not need more in-depth performance engineering. We do not expect them to necessarily dig in and identify root cause of a performance degradation…that would be passed to our other engineers. This is really a script runner, initial analysis, and communication of results on a nearly daily-basis.
Senior performance testers, developers, system engineers and such would probably be not eligible. More senior automated testers looking to break into the next level of scripting might be good fits. Same with lower-experienced developers. Again, LoadRunner and SOAP/API testing experience will likely be a requirement.
