DevOps Engineer
The DevOps Engineer is a senior operations engineer on our in-house operations team. Working closely with developers and testers in a "DevOps" model, the role of the operations engineer is to support Deployment, Monitoring, Maintenance, Capacity Planning, and Deployment automation.
The products are written in-house, so the candidate must be able to learn a custom applications. These applications are written primarily on .net with SQL Server, but over time, we are migrating to platforms to include Selenium, JMeter, SoapUI, MongoDB, Greenplum, Hadoop, Splunk, ELK, etc, so the candidate must be willing to learn new technologies.
The candidate must have an operations mind-set, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and be able to work well under pressure with tight deadlines
Responsibilities
Responsible for participating as a technical expert on project teams, troubleshooting operational issues, providing technical solutions to operational needs, contributing to new products implementation, implementing existing products and services, and providing the overall upkeep and maintenance of designated areas of engineering.
· Interfaces with Development, Testing, Engineering, and peer operations organizations.
· Ensures compliance with industry and Company technical requirements, standards, policies, and procedures.
· Provides technical leadership to junior Engineers and project teams.
· Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities.
· Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment.
· May direct workflow and act as a technical lead.
Qualifications:
· Operationally oriented
· Adept at succeeding in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
· Must be able to take the initiative, do the legwork, and get things done.
· Experience in Linux (at least 5 years)
· Experience with Jenkins as Continuous Integration (CI) platform
· Experience with Configuration Management.
· Experience supporting a .net / SQL Server environment
· Excellent communication: must be a good listener and be able to clearly communicate ideas.
Experience in some of the management products listed below:
· Ansible
· Puppet
· Chef
· Capistrano
· OpenNMS
· Kafka/RabbitMQ
Experience in Deploying and Managing any of the products listed below would be very beneficial:
· Splunk / ELK
· My SQL, SQL Server
· Hadoop
· MongoDB
· Greenplum
· Cassandra
