Title: Performance Engineer

Location: New York City, NY

Duration: Long term contract


We need only the profiles with 10+ years of experience and must have jMeter experience.


Description:

Senior Performance Engineer that can own entire performance testing methodology. We will rely on you to define which tests we need to execute, which 

metrics to collect and how to properly interpret the results. The ideal candidate will be capable of directly contributing to our performance efforts, but also passionate about building and leading a small team. You have to be comfortable as a consultant, and have strong written and verbal communication skills.


Required Skills:

HP Performance Center ASE certification highly desired.

 At least 8 years experience planning, writing and executing performance test required 

 At least 6 years experience developing strategies, execution of performance testing and software tuning projects required 

 At least 4 years experience in a technical lead role including performance automation and performance analysis required 

 At least 2 years experience leading teams and associated resources 

• Experience with Functional and Performance testing tools, to include HP ALM Performance Center Edition & Load Runner, Rational Test Workbench, or Visual Studio Web Test

 Experience migrating tests from HP Load Runner to JMeter

• Familiar with capacity management and planning techniques for monitoring, analysis and reporting 

• Familiar with various validation methodologies (SDLC), and their implementation in an IT organization 

• Familiar with the Performance Engineering discipline and testing methodology 

• Experience implementing and maintaining risk based testing methodologies 

• BS/MS in Computer Science or related field 


Skills, experience and knowledge required:

• JVM internals, including runtime compilation, memory management, and garbage collection

• Java performance analysis and tuning

• Java and Python software development

• Linux process and system monitoring facilities

• Core performance related protocols such as TCP, UDP, DNS, HTTP, TLS

• Basic statistical analysis and experimental design techniques

• Familiarity with FOSS tools such as Jmeter, wrk2, ect.

• Familiarity with proprietary tools such as Spirent Avalanche, IXIA, Loadrunner, etc.


 Non Technical Skills:

• Outstanding written and oral communication Skills 

• Strong problem solving skills desired 

• Strong analytical skills, QA bend of mind, capable of breaking robust software

• Can do attitude; yet challenges status quo 

• Inquisitive and ambitious 

• Works independently under minimal direction with strong work ethic 

 

 Job Responsibilities:

• Build tools, libraries, and platforms for managing performance at every stage of product development.

• Evaluating new platforms and platform upgrades, including new hardware profiles

• Benchmarking prototypes

• Continuous integration

• Pre-production performance testing

• Stress testing

• Production analysis

• Troubleshooting performance bottlenecks

• Capacity planning

• Longevity testing
