Job Title: Senior Oracle DBA
Location: San Antonio, TX

A client is seeking a Senior Oracle DBA in San Antonio, TX for a contract position. This role will work under minimal supervision to coordinate physical changes to the computer database by coding and testing. The Senior Oracle DBA will also be responsible for administering, supporting, and maintaining the database and all associated applications.
Responsibilities:
- Support departmental operations in a high-throughput production environment by proactively managing the performance, optimization, integrity, and security of institutional database and systems like SIS
- Function as the senior technical lead in advising management on matters pertaining to database and technologies to support all users; Assign personnel to various projects and direct their activities
- Provides leadership and mentorship to assigned personnel; Supervise, train, and monitor personnel to ensure work accuracy and efficiency
- Setup, monitor, and maintain disasters recovery solutions for enterprise productions database
- Architect, manage, test, and provide support to multiple enterprise wide database system and applications
- Design, create, install, and maintain highly available and secure enterprise database instances to include database architecture, database backups creation of databases and database objects such as tables, indexes, views, triggers, ad stored procedures to support enterprise level application
- Code database description and specify identifiers of database to database management system to direct other in coding database description
- Maintain reliability of database by developing and implementing standards and/or process for database maintenance, documentation and configuration
- Ensure database re monitored and appropriate measures/actions taken to ensure the integrity of the database to include security and privacy issues
- Modify database programs to increase processing performance, referred to as performance tuning
- Responsible for planning pertaining to database environment to include database capacity planning, processing, capacity, storage capacity, backup, capacity, future needs/requirements. Project long-range requirements for data base administration in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function as well as business function managers
- Work as a lead member of the technology team to assist in providing maximum availability and support of information technology systems
- Assure the timely completion of the database project and within estimated cost
- Consult on server design: coordinate changes to server applications, lead and manage successful upgrade and implementation of existing and emerging technologies in database environment
- Schedule and perform installation and upgrades of enterprise level databases and applications and maintains them in accordance with established Information technology policies and procedures
- Conduct routine audits of enterprise databases and systems to ensure compliance with established standards, polices and configuration guidelines
- Create and maintain documentation pertaining to the university database environment
- Periodically provide and oversee On Call Support
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university within area of assigned responsibility; Technical training and/or experience may be substituted for a degree on a year for year basis
- Oracle 11gr2 (11.2)
- Oracle 12c preferred
- Higher Ed experience preferred
- Ellucian Banner and/or Degree Works preferred, not required
- Proficient with systems design, programming, and scripting
- Ability to program system support tasks in C Java, Perl, batch/shell, Power Shell, or other general purpose programming language
- Ability to perform complex performance analysis including databases and system processes
- 8+ years' of experience working/administering enterprise level databases like Oracle and MSSQL and systems like Student Information System, Appworx, and Xtender
- Experience acting as a technical lead in enterprise level database administration and/or design
- 1+ year experience as a database technical team lead
