Position #2 – System Engineer – UCS/VMware
Location: San Francisco, CA
Duration: 6 months contract, great possibility of extension
Sponsorship: USC/GC only.

Job Description:
Responsibilities:
• To build out, maintain, and troubleshoot our rapidly expanding infrastructure by working closely with the IT team
• Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure in SAAS environment
• Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
• Work closely with workplace team
• Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
• Handle Image management and software updates
• Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
• Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
• Provide 2nd and 3rd tier support
• Build partnership with Engineering and support them
• Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
• Willingness and ability to produce operational documentation, including Visio diagrams, high-level descriptions of the environment, as well as detailed instructions outlining the steps required to repeat the build-out and configuration of the infrastructure.

Qualifications:
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
• STRONG Cisco UCS/VMware experience required
• Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Mac, Windows and Linux based environments.
• Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks
• Solid Cloud experience
• Experience with virtualization and containerization
• Experience with monitoring systems
• Experience with automation software
• Solid scripting skills and competent in one or more programming languages
• Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
