We currently have an exciting contract consulting opportunity for a Research Data Warehouse Analyst to work in the Bloomington corporate headquarters as part a new data warehouse development initiative. The Research Data Warehouse is an in-house from scratch effort and is part of HealthPartners Enterprise Data Warehouse solution.
The Research Data Warehouse Analyst works with the HealthPartners Research and in the development of functional business requirements and data requirements into business specifications, data design and technical specifications that adhere to the HealthPartners data architectural framework. This person works as a data designer and technical specifications developer and has a specialized skill set that can work as a business analyst, data analyst and data modeler. The individual will understand the data functionally, how it resides in the source applications, and as to where, and how, it will land in the Research Data Warehouse target. The Research Data Warehouse Analyst will collaborate closely with ETL developers on technical specification for integration component development. The individual participates in, and at times lead, design reviews, quality assurance process, and follows the defined SDLC processes. The Research Data Warehouse Analyst takes work direction from the Data Warehouse Architect to develop business specification documents, design logical and physical data layouts and develop technical specifications that support the implementation of the data warehouse components. The Research Data Warehouse Analyst will have knowledge and experience with integrating applications within and across platforms with other application components, database management systems, transaction processing systems, interface engines, and analytical & report writer engines. The Research Data Warehouse Analyst will be expected to have extensive technical knowledge and experience in multiple core technology areas and integration, along with strong business, planning, communication, and analytical skills. The role will also have experience in and knowledge of the healthcare industry especially from a clinical care delivery and health plan perspective.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Gather functional business specification requirements from business and users
· Translate functional business requirements into data design and technical specifications that adhere to the architectural framework
· Develop technical specification for integration components and collaborate closely with ETL developers on ETL map development and testing
· Participates in design reviews, the quality assurance and testing process, and follows the defined SDLC process
· Performs a technical data role and drives tasks to conclusion
· Troubleshoots and resolves technical challenges within timelines and budget
· Collaborates with interface teams and business owners to control scope and makes necessary decisions to complete the project on time
· Follow the HealthPartners Data strategy with regard for the Enterprise Data Warehouse architecture - including but not limited to the Research, Health Plan and Clinical Care Delivery
· Follow Data Warehouse standards, policy, and processes for HealthPartners Enterprise Data Warehouse architecture in regards to the development of the Research Data Warehouse
· Ensure expected requirements are met according to HealthPartners standards and principles
· Develop data models and data designs for Enterprise Data Warehouse deliverables with Data Modeler and Data Architect
· Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
· Minimum 3 years of experience in designing & developing logical & physical data model using data warehouse methodologies, including Star schema - Star-joined schemas, conformed dimensions data architecture, early/late binding techniques, and data modeling
· Hands-on technical knowledge of Data Warehouse Architecture, ETL, Database & SQL performance tuning
· Experience with Data Modeling Tools such as Erwin, Embarcadero
· Solid understanding of and experience in ETL (extract, transform, load) processes
· Hands on experience in Oracle 11g (features, functions, & utilities)
· Excellent knowledge of SQL: PL-SQL, T-SQL, SQL scripting
· Technical specification development experience
· Ability to estimate data development efforts
· Ability to manage tasks and work independently
· Strong documentation and diagramming skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Problem solving skills
· Patience and strong customer service skills
· Multi-tasking ability
· Interpersonal communications skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Understanding of data models, staging, landing and data cohorts, ODS, OLAP, multi-dimensional analysis, and various schemas
· Experience with successfully demonstrating the ability to create industry proven standards, models and concepts that meet the needs and requirements of the Management team
· Experience using ETL Tools such as SSIS, DataStage, Informatica
· Hands on experience in SQL Server 2012 (features, functions, & utilities)
· Experience with large / complex data warehouse environments preferably in a clinical care delivery environment
· Hands on experience in Data Warehouse Data Analysis (Source Systems), Data Architecture, Data Modeling, and Data Propagation design and specification
· Solid Knowledge of Dimension Modeling and Data Warehouse concepts
· Good understanding of Query optimization technique used in Data Warehouse domain
· Health Care Research experience
· Experience working with healthcare related data and applications including but not limed to Health Plan and Clinical Care Delivery
· General knowledge about the health care industry, understanding of underlying business functions
· Knowledge and/or experience with Cache and Microsoft SQL Server database technologies
· Experience with Data Quality tools & processes
· Knowledge of data warehouse software development lifecycles (SDLC) including Project Management and BI analytics using Lean and Agile
