JOB DESCRIPTION:-

Tech Stack: Node.JS, Backbone.JS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, REST API, MySQL

 

Most importantly, they are looking for

·         Node.js (experience building applications using node and light php experience they use back end scripts in php to move audio around etc)

·         Backbone

o   React as a secondary – they are moving in this direction

·         Someone with the ability to work with many different teams and personalities and have the ability to navigate that.

Plus

·         API (experience developing RESTful API's)

 

Primary project this person will jump on

·         Content API (Re-write)

o   This is where all news stations inject content

§  They can use front end tools

§  They can access API and pull content

§  It's a single source and a powerful tool for their customers

o   They are re-writing the API from scratch

§  New coding

§  Will work with an experienced team

 

The Web Developer is responsible for the development of web applications and service APIs. As part of the NPR Digital Services Technology Group, the Web Developer will focus on the building and maintaining applications to support the NPR radio-everywhere mission. This person will be expected to work in a highly collaborative inter-disciplinary team of developers, testers, designers and product managers. This person will  contribute to a clear and shared mission to build solid development processes and healthy collaborations between teams, clients and  applications.

 

Required:

3 to 5 years' experience developing database-driven web sites and applications Experience with REST API development  patterns

Strong JavaScript knowledge, including Node.js for the server-side and Backbone.js for the client-side

Intermediate PHP knowledge

3+ years familiarity with HTML, CSS, and client-side Javascript development Proficiency with both SQL (MySQL) and  NoSQL

Experience with Git

Comfort on the command line, wherever it  resides

Desire to learn from and contribute to team's development practices and   patterns

 

Preferred:

Working knowledge of responsive design  concepts

Familiarity with server architecture: Apache/Nginx, Memcache/Redis, Varnish, etc. Understanding of Amazon  Webservices

Good grasp of Linux and Mac development  tools

Experience with Agile/Scrum software development  practices
