The NC Department of Transportation Web Services group is seeking an Expert Level Front-End User Interface Design Architect for the ETRACS project ITP.00242 and DOT initiatives and content strategies.
The NC Department of Transportation Web Services group is seeking an Expert Level Front-End User Interface Design Architect for the ETRACS project ITP.00242 and DOT initiatives and content strategies. The person will be responsible for ETRACS and online application information architecture and page design, applying components, creating wireframes, elements, and creation of layout templates based on the needs of the various NCDOT and DMV business units. This contractor should have extensive experience creating web applications with HTML5, CSS, modern Javascript in a mobile-first context. The contractor should also be familiar with Visual Studio, Handlebars.JS, and jQuery, and using these tools together to manipulate the DOM.
Creates User Experience (UX) standards across multiple public-facing and business partner online applications for both layout and interactivity
Write maintainable, forward-thinking Javascript and CSS across multiple websites and applications
Build interfaces powered by REST Services that are mobile-first responsive
Lead User Experience Focus Groups for internal clients and business groups, create personas, and tie this data into Functional Design Documents
Defines Information Architecture and Metadata for the most effective data-driven User
Experience
Guide other designers on the team to follow site design standards with new state brand
Design and creation of interfaces for our clients using HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Adding interactivity to pages using jQuery, JavaScript and CSS – all while keeping page load and responsiveness in mind at all times
Maintaining site branding and design standards across all pages
Building site templates with partials and master pages
Clearly communicating status reports, in verbal and written form
Collaborating as a dedicated team member and demonstrating the ability to clearly communicate with other team members
Required/Desired Skills:
Required - 7yrs - Ability to clearly communicate status reports, in verbal and written form
Required - 7yrs - Experience with SVG and WebFont usage
Required - 7yrs - Experience with HandleBars.js, Angular.JS or other front-end focused client-side templating tools
Required - 7yrs - Experience with modern CSS3, and frameworks like Boostrap
Required - 7yrs - Experience with modern client-side development and design tools like Gulp/Grunt or Bower
Required - 7yrs - Experience with Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server, and multi-tier development
Required - 7yrs - Experience with jQuery and jQuery UI, and knowing when to use them versus out of the box SharePoint web parts
Required - 7yrs - Ability to read and generate wireframes and story boards before development starts
Required - 7yrs - Ability to effectively organize and present large amounts of content to end users
Required - 7yrs - Ability to create designs that work well in mobile, using techniques like responsive web design
Required - 7yrs - Ability to use text editors, like Visual Studio, Notepad++, VIM
Required - 7yrs - Extensive experience with CSS, HTML, JavaScript, Microsoft Office
Required - 7yrs - Experience with page prototyping with paper or mockup software
