Client :: Weatherford International JOB DESCRIPTION :: JOB SCOPE: The IT Technical Architect is responsible for the architecture and design of the Network's Carrier-Class Network backbone, service delivery access networks and highly resilient data center network and infrastructure. This role is multi-disciplinary encompassing the multi-faceted elements of the datacenter: compute, storage, and network. The ideal candidate will be able to function effectively with minimal direction and oversight in the day-to-day activities. The ideal candidate's success will be on their ability to liase with the relevant internal business clients; obtain and understand their business needs; and convert them into practical solutions. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :: - Provide technical direction to meet business and technical needs.
- Provide expert consultation for major initiatives or projects.
- Own and maintain the Data Center platform architecture, strategy and vision by working closely with both business and technical leaders in the company.
- Document the current and future solutions providing a consistent framework for the company.
- Collaborate and work closely with technical and business teams to align the platform with the needs, vision, and strategy of the company.
- Convey architecture strategy to leadership to assure alignment and influence long-term business strategy.
- Work with project teams to identify areas where there may be integration, continuity, impacts, reuse, and dependencies with deployment efforts.
- Own and drive resolution of architecture issues for the data center. Approves design changes to ensure alignment with network architecture strategy along with meeting high availability goals.
- Influence planning, prioritizing, initiating, and deployment of work efforts.
- Communicate with various audiences, such as business and technical leadership, to acquire acceptance and to articulate decisions for the network architecture.
- Stay current with industry/business trends pertaining to datacenter architecture topics.
- Evaluate emerging technologies against technical, business and strategic needs.
- Develop and participate in the development of test plans for the testing of new designs and new products
- Serve as a key representative on major datacenter initiatives.
- Analyze technical needs, requirements, and state of the data center infrastructure design, integration, and operations.
- Work with technical management to architect solutions that effectively reflect business needs, service-level availability requirements, operational and other technology parameters.
- Develop design principles, models, plans, internal standards, budgets, and processes based on industry best practices.
- Establish governing principles for network design and deployment
- Develop and maintain designs, standards and guidelines.
- Assist in scoping and costing of data center projects.
- Identify and define future changes/enhancements of network design to accommodate future network capacity and services scalability requirements
- Technically oversee and act as an adviser for network installation
- Provide strategic and technical direction to solve customer business problems
- Develop Acceptance Test Plans for all project implementations
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:: - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Management Information Systems or equivalent preferred, or 10 to 15 years of related experience required.
- CCNP or CCIE preferred (or equivalent, relevant certification.)
- Has a minimum 10 years of experience designing and implementing comprehensive solutions relevant to the datacenter.
- Highly skilled background in and knowledge of network protocols.
- Functional knowledge of IP routing and forwarding.
- Advanced knowledge of Firewalls and Load Balancing technologies
- Strong IPV4 and IPV6 skills along with NAT technologies
- Advanced knowledge of virtualization environment of both servers and applications along with the use of hypervisor technologies
- Knowledge of redundancy and high availability for mission critical compute environments
- Functional knowledge of network virtualization and tunneling technologies including VPLS, E-VPN, L3VPN, L2TP, GRE, VXLAN,
- Strong knowledge in the functions and features in cloud / data center environment
- Strong knowledge in Ethernet protocols and Layer-2 equipment technologies including large scale Switches, Routers
- Advanced knowledge of layers 4-7 network protocols.
- Advanced knowledge in Enterprise architecture, infrastructure deployments and solutions design
- Exceptional command of datacenter technologies, including Cisco UCS, VMware and storage solutions
- Experience with High Availability Data Center design experience and big data models
- Understanding of Database architectures and designs
- Experience and understanding in capacity sharing in a compute environment.
- Experience with network security and security standard
- Strong experience participating in complex technical projects in large scale networks
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems within converged communications infrastructure
- The ability to communicate and influence business and technical staff.
- Provide strategic thinking and roadmaps for the Data Center Architecture.
- Experience in Cisco datacenter networking converged infrastructure such as UCS, Nexus, Unified Fabric and other traditional networking technologies
- Cisco certification highly desirable (CCNP, CCDP, CCIE).
- Demonstrable experience in the design and implementation of real world access networks
- Ability to listen well and capture nuances of customer goals and requirements while identifying technical implementation concerns and proposed solutions
- Good verbal, written and interpersonal skills; interfaces well with multiple disciplines
- Fast learner, ability and willingness to break new ground in technology application
- Self-starter, able to work independently to meet assigned objectives
- CCNP/CCDP Wireless certification would be desirable
- Knowledge of large-scale VoIP network design and implementation that addresses all of the nuances relating to achieving high quality voice calls over wireless
- Able to interact positively with employees at all levels in the organization
- High degree of integrity and responsiveness to customers and partners
