General Position Description:

The Software Engineer provides the development of large, complex products in the space of Cloud, Enterprise, SDN, OpenStack and other Open Source projects. Will be responsible for building and designing new products for Nexus and our customers.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities, but not limited to:

·        Build underlying services and systems to support a web service based application 


·        Write automated tests to ensure proper functionality of implementation and allow for confident refactoring

·        Design and implement using a reusable component architecture


·        Participate in the user story planning process with product, other Java Software Engineers, and QA to ensure comprehensive solutions to customer needs.

·        Participate in key open source projects with the open source community.

·        Contribute to existing development projects in either Java or Python


 

Experience, Skills and Abilities:

·        Minimum of two (2+) years of previous experience in Java software engineering with knowledge of Java, SQL, Web Services (REST or SOAP) and object-oriented programming techniques


·        Experience or desire to learn test driven development and running through detailed test cases and writing integration and unit tests


·        Active involvement in a product lifecycles (experience with Agile development techniques is a big plus) and Java coding every day


·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills and must be able to work effectively in cross-functional teams




·        Experience in Networking, Open vSwitch, OVSDB, Open Flow a plus

·        Experience in Python a plus

·        Experience in working with Service Abstraction Layers a plus

·        The person in this role must also demonstrate the following: the ability to appear to work on time, accept constructive criticism, develop & maintain positive team cohesiveness and the ability to understand and follow work rules and procedures.

 

Education:

·        MS or BS in computer science or related field or equivalent Java knowledge and experience
