Job Description
· Responsible for the design, installation, configuration, and support for Cassandra and Hadoop ecosystem on RedHat operating systems.
· Resolve issues regarding development, operations, implementations and system status.
· Manages and maintains all production and non-production Cassandra clusters and performs after hours support as part of an on-call pager rotation.
Job Requirements :
· 2+ years of experience in installing, configuring, upgrading, managing, tuning and administering Cassandra database.
· 6+ years of experience with Linux / Windows, with knowledge on Unix administration.
· Strong knowledge and deep understanding of internals of NOSQL approach. Gather business requirements and Design, Implement multiple Projects along with the Production Support. Responsible for database deployments, performance, and/or troubleshooting issues.
· Design, Implement, maintain Disaster Recovery (DR) methodologies and create documentation. Advanced knowledge of various troubleshooting tasks (ex. Latency Analysis, Thread state Analysis, etc.) Experience working and maintain multi data center Cassandra environment.
· Expertise in performing security implementation on Cassandra clusters using Kerberos.
· Knowledge of implementing SSL/TLS Encryption on Cassandra. Expertise in collaborating with application teams to install the operating system and Cassandra updates, patches, version upgrades when required.
· End-to-end performance tuning of Cassandra clusters against very large data sets.Using monitoring and management tools like DataStax OpsCenter, Datastax DevCenter, Netstats, Cassandra bulk loder.
· Experience working and configuring Cassandra with Hadoop environments. Proficient in creating and maintaining Keyspaces, Materialized views, column families, Partiton key, Super columns. Experience with hardware selection,capacity planning, concurrent users, control, integrity and accessibility of data. Working Knowledge of Datastax Spark.
Skills / Abilities and Knowledge:
· Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner. Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel.
· Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure. Ability to prioritize and organize effectively. Ability to show judgment and initiative and to accomplish job duties.
· Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.).Ability to work independently. Ability to work with others to resolve problems, handle requests or situations. Ability to effectively consult with department managers and leaders
EDUCATION : BS in Information Technology, Computer Science,MIS or related field or equivalent experience.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with RDBMS, Hadoop and Java. Exposure to other NOSQL databases like MongoDB, HBASE etc.
