Job Title       : Sr Java Developer/Hadoop.

Job location    : San Carlos, CA

Job Duration : 12 months to start (likely 12 month extension)

Job Description:- 

·         Full Stack Java Developer with Hadoop/MapReduce skills

·         Java required

·         Spring MVC required

·         Hibernate required

·         Big Data technologies (Map reduce, Hadoop) required

·         Shell scripting required

·         Java concurrency experience required

·         Consultant will have more open source technologies (Python, Ruby)

Role:-

• Architect, design, develop and operationalize loyalty applications

• Participate in system design, architecture decisions and lead regular code reviews

• Work with our data scientists to bring propensity models and data mining algorithms to production

• Actively find ways to improve and enhance the platform, including new libraries, technologies and tools

• Build proof-of-concept prototypes 

• Mentor and coach junior engineers 

• Work in a highly interactive, team-oriented environment

• Become a key member and decision-maker in our top-notch engineering team 

Essential Skills:-

• Very strong fundamentals in computer science algorithms and data structures

• Experience with software architectures (client-server, component-based, domain-driven, event-driven, real-time, N-tier, service-oriented etc.) and design patterns.

• Experience building with compiler-based languages such as Java (required), C# etc. and at least one interpreted languages such as Python, Ruby, etc.

• Experience with open source Java frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate etc.

• Experience with any of the relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL etc. 

• Experience working with teams in rapid delivery environments

• Ability to self-organize and work effectively with minimal supervision

• BS or MS in engineering, computer science, or a related discipline or equivalent experience

Additional Skills and Abilities:-

• Experience designing, developing and operating global systems supporting multiple languages and currencies.

• Experience with any NoSQL data stores such as Hadoop, HBase, Cassandra etc 

• Demonstrate ability to organize, manage, plan and control several concurrent initiatives

• Must display strong communication skills -- both verbal and written – and leadership and relationship skills with ability to influence others without having direct authority.
