Linux Engineer
6+ month contract

RATE: $55-60 PER HOUR
Works as part of the Enterprise Infrastructure team to apply information systems technology solutions in support of identified business problems. Participates in the evaluation, selection, implementation and on-going support of software, hardware and tools used by the Enterprise Infrastructure team. involved with the application team…responsible for policy/procedure for how platform.
Works with a variety of outsourced production support and application development teams to ensure that technical solutions meet overall business information requirements and application's functional requirements.
Assists branch offices and internal customers with all aspects of software for the mid-range computer systems. Troubleshoots software problems. Recommends corrective/adaptive changes.
Sets up/audits the user security profiles and prepares security audit reports. Ensures the integrity of operating systems and prepares annual audits and audit reviews.
Develops and executes plans for implementation of new tools and/or technology. Conducts plan reviews and walkthroughs in an effort to communicate plans to other IS groups and to ensure the coordination and coorperation of all parties involved.
Writes technical documentation for existing hardware and software systems. Evaluates current/future needs, identifies existing/potential problems, and recommends modifications to improve processing capabilities.
Monitors remote and local systems performance to identify problems. Modifies system configurations to improve processing and availability as needed.
Identifies, obtains from vendors, and applies temporary fixes or upgrades to operating system software as needed. Serves as primary contact with vendors during problem resolution and plans and performs periodic upgrades to new releases.
Ensures that work requests and reported problems are handled in a professional, organized and timely manner. Provides management with periodic formal and informal reports on the status of projects and problems.
Evaluates/tests new system management products and recommends their use by the company as appropriate.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience with Installation/Administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Oracle Enterprise Linux (entire portfolio of products (Linux, storage, satellite, open stack, cloud etc) REQUIRED
Experience with Installation/Administration of JBoss v4.3 to most recent release REQUIRED
Must have experience with healthcare systems; Understand security – HIPAA – how to secure data in a server environment REQUIRED
Administration of EMC SAN (Clariion), EMC DataDomain, VMWare vSphere 4.x or 5.x, vRanger
Familiarity with IBM xSeries and Cisco UCS hardware a plus
Familiarity with Compuware Vantage & Certifications a plus
