Business Analyst - Product
Description:
Will join a large project team engaged in a complex Policy administration system replacement exercise for a leading US based Commercial Property & Casualty Insurer. The Business Analyst will work as a part of a dedicated member performing an enterprise wide discovery effort to analyse and assess current insurance products with a view to
o identifying opportunities for product standardization
o obtaining a detailed and thorough understanding of the client's insurance products
o preparing preliminary documentation to support configuration of client's insurance products within the BDP system.
Discovery effort will be a combination of onsite due diligence (multiple locations) and offsite analysis and review. The Discovery team will be organized into small groups to cover multiple business units within an aggressive schedule.
Tasks will include analysis and verification of client produced Product documentation, development of initial product specification documents, supporting Forms and Reporting requirements.
Producing timely, accurate and properly formatted documentation.
Undertaking client interviews to elicit business requirements
Participating in team review meetings
Providing Accurate and timely status and progress reports
Knowledge
Knowledge of US Commercial Property & Casualty product development, rating and underwriting rules.
Understanding of ISO Insurance Standards and best practice approaches as relates to
Commercial Lines (Property, GL, Auto, Inland Marine, Crime, Garage and Farm)
Rating for all lines of Business
Forms
Coverage
3 years+ prior experience of Project related requirements gathering and analysis
5 years+ prior experience US Commercial Property & Casualty Insurance (Underwriting)
Experience with ACORD standards
Skills
Provides business subject matter expertise and experience
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to analyze client documentation and identify commonalities within products offered by different business units and make an initial case for standardization
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to elicit information from business users and to accurately document same.
Comfortable communicating with senior business users.
Able to work with business users to perform a 'deep dive' analysis on product details and characteristics.
Excellent attention to detail with emphasis on ability e to produce timely and accurate documentation
Strong organizational skills
Team oriented. Able to work effectively in small groups and to deliver consistent work product in accordance with overall team objectives. Able to identify and escalate issues representing a risk to overall team objectives.
Comfortable working within aggressive timelines.
