Position: Project Manager – Development Contracts and Outsourcing
Location: Northbrook, IL
Duration: 12 months+

Description
Person will be responsible for executing and managing all outsourcing and contracting activities for assigned projects to support Clinical Development activities in a given Therapeutic Area. Person will have the ability to guide stakeholders through the sourcing process and then contract for the services. Emphasis is on outsourcing expertise as opposed to contracting but with some skills in contracting and contract escalations.
In accordance with our client's procedures and policies, Person will facilitate vendor sourcing for assigned studies, and books of work as well as provide superior project management skills specifically related to clinical outsourcing. Responsibilities include: preparation, distribution, and management of RFIs and RFPs, conducting bid defences, vendor and proposal analysis to guide team decisions regarding outsourcing solutions, and leading negotiation of value with suppliers. Additionally, candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills to act as intermediary between vendors, internal customers, and other client stakeholders like Vendor Management, Legal, QA, Regulatory, etc.
Person will draft and negotiate contracts for Development activities using client templates. Specifically including, but not limited to, clinical trial agreements, consultant agreements, advisory board agreements, Services Agreements, Amendments, Work Orders, and Change Orders. Will leverage experience, precedent, and processes to develop alternate contract language for consideration and approval, and ensure that contract terms are compliant with legal and corporate guidelines. Will ensure that pricing (FSP, Fixed Price, Unit Price, Fee for Service, study budget etc.), and payment terms appropriately protect, are in the best interests of the client, are consistent and well defined, and are reasonable and customary.
Role will require management of multiple and simultaneous projects impacting Development. Activities within this role include effectively communicating with assigned stakeholders, developing relationships within assigned stakeholders, contributing to process improvements, managing work flow efficiently. Extensive budget analysis required. Additionally, experience and comfort with data analytics, metrics, and quickly assessing proposals and identifying cost drivers, and negotiating for value is considered a plus.
Required
· Bachelor's Degree
· Minimum 6 years outsourcing or clinical development experience in pharmaceutical or related industry
· Understanding of the drug development process
· Proficient with analyzing rates and costing structures
· Ability to work in a matrix environment
· Ability to function autonomously with little supervision
· Good decision and problem solving ability
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
· Strong attention to detail and organization
· Strong interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills
· Advanced use of MS Word and Excel - PowerPoint a plus
· Solid soft skills: customer service, sales, presenting
· Working knowledge of various contract types and complexity levels
· Proficient knowledge of clinical development financial principles including cash flow neutrality, payment schedules, costing systems
· Good time management, planning and scheduling skills
· Proficiency with budgets and/or financial analysis tools and methods
· Team player, collaborative, relationship oriented
· Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Preferred
- Advanced degree (MBA, MS, JD, etc.)
- Finance, procurement, or legal experience
- Previous experience in CRO environment in proposal development, BD, or clinical operations
- Successful track record with metrics, project management
- Ability to speak a second or third language a plus, especially Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Dutch, Korean
