Day-to-day: The Application Security Engineer will be working cross-functionally with teams to provide security consulting services and driving new security initiatives as an integrated aspect working with the development team within an SDLC environment. The candidate will work with the application development team to test applications and identify vulnerabilities as a part of the SDLC. This candidate will work to ensure security vulnerabilities are fixed and consult the team on how to fix said breaches within the source code as well as relay the impacts to business if vulnerabilities are not remediated.

 

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

 

·         Conducting manual application security testing and source code auditing for a variety of technologies. Provide clear and detailed risk assessment and remediation guidelines for developers and business owners.

·         Conduct penetration testing targeting critical data, services, and environments as needed. Report underlying security issues and propose enhanced security protections.

·         Work on vulnerability management to help teams understand security vulnerabilities, perform risk analysis and prioritize/schedule patching activities, and collaborate with other teams to establish security best practices.

·         Work on information security related projects, compliance auditing and any new security-related initiatives.

·         Establish collaborative relationships with various organizations to work together tackling security issues.

·         Security research on latest best practices, trends, threats, vulnerabilities, and technology frameworks.

·         Documenting and disseminating security guidelines for common security issues, remediation guidance, and security technology baselines.

·         Develop tools and exploits to support application security review and/or penetration testing.
