Job Description

Responsible for planning and design for new software that collects, stores, processes, and analyzes huge sets of data. The primary focus will be on selecting optimal solutions to use for these purposes; maintenance  implementation, and monitoring/support. You will also be responsible for integrating with the architecture used across the enterprise.  Analyzes, tests, and assists with the integration of new applications. Oversees the documentation of all development activity. Assists with tracking performance metrics. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment. Will lead teams or projects, and shares expertise.


Skills and Qualifications:
-Proficient understanding of distributed computing principles
-Proficiency with Hadoop v2, MapReduce, HDFS
-Experience with building stream-processing systems, using solutions such as Storm or Spark-Streaming
-Good knowledge of Big Data querying tools, such as Pig, Hive, and Impala
-Experience with Java, Apache Spark, or Apache Storm
-Experience with integration of data from multiple data sources
-Experience with NoSQL databases, such as HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB
-Knowledge of various ETL techniques and frameworks, such as Flume
-Experience with various messaging systems, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
-Good understanding of Lambda Architecture, along with its advantages and drawbacks
-Provide support operational support as needed
-Experience with Cloudera/MapR/Hortonworks desired
-5 to 7 years solid development experience working in Java/Scala
-Bachelor's Degree in Comp. Science or related field experience
