ETL Data Stage Developer
Raleigh, NC
Contract
Primary Mandate: DataStage 11.3, TWS.
What are the top 5-10 responsibilities for this position? (Please be detailed as to what the candidate is expected to do or complete on a daily basis)
• Perform all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including requirements analysis, application design, code development, testing and deployment
• Design and code in IBM DataStage to implement product features in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders
• Implement business rules via IBM DataStage, stored procedures, middleware, or other technologies
• Work closely with architects and drive solutions
• Tuning ETL jobs and SQL queries for optimization
• Review ETL code and design, UNIX scripts, SQL developed by other team members as part of ETL code governance and provide feedback relative to best practices and improving performance
• Troubleshoot production support issues post-deployment and come up with solutions as required
• Participate in an Agile/Scrum methodology to deliver high-quality software releases on a periodic basis through Sprints
• Participate in components of development or maintenance standards, such as organization, structure, or nomenclature, for the design of data warehouse elements, such as data architectures, models, tools, and databases
• Work as part of a project team
• Mentor and guide other software engineers within the team
• Work with upstream and downstream applications to define dependencies, interfaces, data formats etc.
What software tools/skills are needed to perform these daily responsibilities?
• 7-10 years of experience as an ETL developer of which at least 2 years as a senior ETL developer in IBM DataStage
• Hands-on experience with IBM Data Stage Version 11.x
• Hands-on experience in ORACLE
DataStage
• Experience using an Agile management tool such as CA Agile Central
• Experience using Job scheduling software such as TWS
• Strong background in writing UNIX shell scripts and PERL scripts
• Hands-on experience in writing, modifying stored procedures, DDL and DML statements in a relational database environment would be highly valued
• Proven experience in delivering software using an Agile/Scrum methodology
• Experience working in an onsite/offshore model with offshore teams
• Proven experience across all phases of the SDLC
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to varying audiences.
• Relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field
