Job Description - ETL Developer

The candidate must be a self-starter, who can work under a general guidelines in a fast paced work environment.  Previous ETL (Extraction, Transformation, and Loading), Data Modeling, User reporting  using any tool is must (Preferred tools are IBM Data Stage, Erwin and Business Objects ). The candidate should have also an expertise in PL/SQ and  UNIX Scripting.

Below are the detailed Role and Responsibilities for this position:

 

Responsibilities:

• Perform technical analysis and prepare recommended ETL design approach
• Participate in a team environment for the design, development and implementation of data warehouse projects.
• Lead and drive a small team including offshore. Offshore responsible for ETL jobs development, debugging and testing of project to meet project time lines.

• Prepare and present ETL designs to all onsite ETL architects (Internal design review) and BIS design panel. 
• Prepare and submit proposals for enhancements and value added activities/projects.
• Work closely with development lead to finalize on estimated/actual project completion dates for ETL design, development.
• Prepare and validate end to end business logic and mappings.
• Prepare design and development activity list and estimated efforts as per resource allocation.
• Perform final code review before moving to SIT environment and fix issue in warranty phase
• Handover completed projects to support team after warranty completion
• Prepare root cause corrective action document for the ETL issues.
• Help other development team members in troubleshooting data stage related issues and co-ordinate with Vendors, if required.
• Contribution in preparing ETL design development and standards
• Mentor ETL developers in technical skills to bring them to next level.

 

 

Required skills:   

• 8-10 years of STRONG Data Warehousing experience
• Minimum of 3 years of "hands on" experience with any ETL tools ( Preferred IBM Data Stage, Informatica, Ab Initio)
• Minimum of 3 years of ETL Solutions Architect Experience (Designing ETL job/flow )
• Minimum of 5 -8 year experience with any Relation Database for query optimization, PL/SQL
• 5-8 years of Unix and Perl scripting experience (Expertize Level)
• Expertise in dimensional modeling, ER modeling using RDBMS concepts.
• Expertise in analytical skills (Code debugging, Impact analysis, etc.)
• Good communication and interpersonal skills

 

Desired Skills:

• Usage of data lineage tools with different data acquisition strategies
• Well aware of / hands on with latest technologies (Big Data, Hadoop, Data Virtualization)
• Dimensional Modeling and User reporting
• System support in offshore / onsite model
• Formulating business requirements to technical specifications
