The need is for a production DBA – performance tuning, monitoring usage, users on the system, making sure active session rules to govern that; back-ups – restore fm syst to syst
- Active/active dbase environment Teradata systems
- Some Dbase migrations
- Looking for someone to do day-to-day DBA responsibilities
- ETL side – DBA – making sure tools & utilities are functional and avail.
- This Dallas based industry leader has an immediate 12+ month contract opening for a Senior Teradata Database Administrator.
- Day-to-day administration responsibilities include: designing, modelling, configuring, testing, and installing databases.
- Will perform and troubleshoot database backup, recovery, capacity, and security plans. Will administer, maintain, and implement changes to existing databases to meet customer requirements.
- Will respond to test and production database problems and implement immediate resolution efforts across technology areas.
- Will implement moderately complex changes to existing databases. Will install and configure new database engines and upgrades to new product releases.
- Will implement physical data models at a project level.
- Will create, document, administer, and document database backup and recovery plans, capacity plans and security plans to meet project requirements.
- Will monitor and tune existing databases of medium complexity and moderate business exposure. Will investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve database problems.
- Will provide general technical support to services and development groups.
- Will have on call shifts.
Requirements:
- 4+ years experience as a Database Administrator.
- 3 + years working as a Teradata DBA professionally, including Teradata certifications.
- Experience with Change Management.
- Experience with Database Design.
- Performance monitoring experience utilizing ViewPoint is required.
- Experience working with NetBackup is required.
- Proficient knowledge of physical database design, capacity planning, security planning, backup and recovery systems, operating systems, data modeling, query language, at least one database engine, performance and testing, and software development concepts and technology.
- Prefer experience utilizing Unity for replication.
- Prefer AbInitio experience.
- Prefer Tivoli experience.
