POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general guidance of BI/DW Service Manager, as a liaison between the business user community and the service delivery teams, gather, analyze, and document business requirements (functional and data) to existing and new applications for Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence (DW/BI) as well as External Analytic projects. Design and develop business solutions using BI tools such as Business Objects, QlikView. To satisfy BI needs by gathering and analyzing business objectives and requirements. Serve as BI Analyst on projects involving multiple business units; develop High Level Impact Assessments and estimates of effort supporting prioritization and approval processes for Capital Projects; develop user testing requirements and coordinate user testing; create user documentation; deliver end user training; testing effort; and assist user community during rollouts with UAT planning and activities.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Interviews business areas for the purpose of defining business needs and priorities and assists the business owner by translating these needs into functional specifications by performing further analysis.
2. Assumes primary responsibility for analysis and documentation of cost benefit analysis in preparation of business case for new development projects.
3. Manages work plan to ensure the timely completion of functional specifications for either new systems or major enhancements.
4. Develops proposals that will provide the most appropriate solutions to solve a business need.
5. Analyzes and evaluates projected workflow improvements and cost reductions attributable to new or improved systems to ensure that they are achievable.
6. Prepares or oversees the preparation of preliminary user requirements as well as documentation materials for all delivered systems.
7. Participates in requirements reviews.
8. Assists in the post-implementation analysis to review and evaluate if the requirements were fulfilled.
9. Provides input to management in the development of the department's long range plan.
10. Assists in the development of training programs and materials that will assist the end users and customers in better utilizing new or enhanced applications.
11. Develops ad hoc reporting and assists with the production of daily, weekly and month-end reporting as needed.
12. Review/analyze a business environment and work with key users and functional managers to identify improvements
13. Provide an appropriate level of project management to ensure timely and quality deliverables. Identify and communicate risks and recommend solutions
14. Demonstrate leadership, decision-making and team building skills
15. Overall team performance skills: demonstrates ability to multitask, demonstrates analytical/logical thinking, demonstrates technical problem solving; understands and applies system and desktop tools
16. Performs related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field, plus five (5) years progressively responsible experience developing business solutions The experience should be in at least three (3) years with SQL, Business Objects/QlikView and Data Warehousing techniques; and two (2) years with requirements gathering.
MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Minimum of 5 years of experience developing business solutions with a variety of BI/DW tools is required
2. Good knowledge of relational databases (e.g. Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, etc.)
3. Experience with various business process and system modeling tools: Data Flow Diagrams, Use Case Scenarios.
4. Minimum of 3+ years of using Structured Query Language (SQL)
5. Minimum of 3 years of experience in DW /BI environments.
6. Minimum of 3 years of experience development experience in any BI tools such as SAP Business Objects or QlikView.
7. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
8. Strong interpersonal skills
9. Strong analytical skills
10. Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
11. Ability to resolve issues quickly and efficiently
