Job Description:

The Website System Administrator will set up, maintain and optimize cloud-based servers hosting multiple Drupal website installations, as well as other open source tools.  The individual should have proven experience working with server level Drupal administration and optimization.  The ideal candidate will have knowledge of LAMP-stack technologies as well as technologies that make Drupal sites perform well.

The successful candidate will be highly self-motivated and proactive, willing to learning new technologies, and will have the skills to work efficiently in a team environment as well as independently.   The successful candidate will also be able to handle working on multiple tasks with attention to detail while producing quality work products and meeting aggressive deadlines. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

       Installing and maintaining web applications in multiple environments.

       Setting up technical infrastructures (including multi-server and load balanced environments).

       Assist other project team members in solving issues that occur on the front-end or back-end of any Drupal web applications being developed or supported by the team.

       Troubleshoot any reported problems within web application and related environments.

       Take an active role in designing, implementing and maintaining a scalable and robust enterprise server environment.

       Administer/configure Apache web server and MySQL Server

       Work on system security at application level.

       Deploy Drupal system updates

       Optimize servers for high traffic, security, and other Drupal related system issues.

       Document system configuration, processes and procedures.

       Communication on issues and timeframes with team members and customers.

       Maintain security policies and mitigation of security issues.

       Complete tasks as assigned within the deadlines given.

       Participate in cross training with other team members.

       Track completion of tasks and projects in Jira.

       Analyze system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems.

       Perform routine audits of systems and software.

 

Excellent knowledge and skills in the following in the following areas:

       Computer Science related Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.

       Minimum 3 years web server administration experience.

       1 – 2 years Drupal specific experience.

       Strong communication skills.

       Knowledge/experience in cloud hosted environments.

       Experience of LAMP-stack technologies

       Working experience with technologies that make larger-size Drupal sites perform well, including Pressflow, Varnish, Memcache, APC, and CDN solutions.

       Setup, configuration, and use of tools such as Git and Drush.

       Strong scripting (bash, php, perl) skills.

       Clear communication and documentation of projects and procedures.

       Strong problem solving skills

       Demonstrated ability to manage timelines, dependencies, deliverables, milestones and resource allocation and management in projects.

       Is a team player who is proactive, enjoys the opportunity to excel, and is motivated to learn new skills and methodologies necessary to be successful.

       Ability to work on multiple tasks as assigned by the project manager or Drupal lead developer with attention to detail.

       Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.

       Experienced in installing and maintaining web applications and the Drupal platform (preferred) in multiple environments with internal and external hosting providers with server operating systems including Unix, Linux, and/or Windows; web server software including Apache, PHP, Lampstack, Nginx, and/or IIS; database software including MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and/or Oracle; and related software infrastructure and applications.

       Site migration between different platforms and technologies.
