Network Automation Engineer
Location: Mount Laurel, NJ (Phone then Face/face)
Duration: 12-36 months+
Network Automation Engineer:
· Templates and Telemetry One of the keys to success in service activation automation is the use of standard templates and configurations.
· To that end, the Platform Architecture team is seeking and engineering resource that will help standardize, complete, and simplify the configurations that are used in the automation systems in place and in development.
· A complementary area of coverage that is necessary in the continuation of the streamlining of service activation and testing is the support of telemetry systems that are used for ensuring the quality of deployed services.
· Characteristics and background required The Network Automation Engineer must have the following skills and background:
o Extensive knowledge of the following: network protocols and configuration commands relating Juniper, Cisco, Ciena, ALU, and Arista equipment protocol level knowledge of IPv4, IPv6 and MPLS and Ethernet OAM standards XML, XHTML, XPATH, XSLT1.0 (XSLT2.0 desired but not required)
· Experience in working with: service oriented network topologies, service designs, and service activation systems. scripting languages, object oriented programing, and logical operators.
· Strong communication skills and an ethic of open and honest collaboration across different groups.
· Advanced documentations skills regarding software and work items.
Job Function Requirements
The Network Automation Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the following:
· The review and analysis of the current systems in place for managing templates inside and outside of the automation system.
· Building a backlog within the Rally Agile development management system of the current and future configurations that need to be developed into the automation system.
· A thorough review of each service design that has a template due for automation and the business logic and logical components that will make up the service.
· Collaborate closely with the Platform Architecture SME's that are responsible for each template that is to be developed and converted
· The creation of weekly reports stating the backlog size and progress on service templates
· The collaboration with the technical writer stating the completion of templates
· The documentation of the requirements to work the template system and for the templates themselves and their purpose.
· This is meant for continuity of the system and as staff augments to support this role.
· Close communication with the Amdocs/Cramer and CCS config generation system in order to identify issues with a template and UAT/SIT testing.
· The collaboration with the router/switch lab in order to place the service configuration template results into a hardware environment to test service validity
· The maintenance with Product Engineering of a topology to service to config matrix that templates will be mapped to.
