Quality Assurance Analyst/Application Tester
STAFF AUGMENTATION APPLICATION TESTING CONSULTANT WITH WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF EXCEL/SQL and EXPERIENCE WITH HEALTH INSURANCE CLAIMS DATA
Duties and Responsibilities
The APCD currently contains over 500 data elements and we are adding approximately 100 new data elements. The file format, data element format and compliance edits associated with the new data fields, as well as updated edits on the existing data fields need to be tested to ensure the application and edit process is working correctly before payers begin submitting data in August 2013. The chosen individuals will manipulate raw text delimited files in accordance with submission specifications to create tests of all new data elements and new or updated data edits. The chosen individuals will run queries on individual data elements within a file to measure completeness and accuracy of the data edits.
Create and document specific claim, eligibility, product and provider test cases, create asterisk delimited test files in accordance with submission guides, run test files within internal Enterprise Processing System (EPS), examine all edits, reports and user interface to ensure all meet standards required.
Utilization of Excel (required) and SQL (highly desired) to examine, assess, verify and document test results.
Use CHIA and industry standards specific to each data element to determine completeness and accuracy of edits and consistency of edits between file types;
APCD Data Elements have percentage error allowances, which must be tested against APCD standard thresholds and payer specific variances on the thresholds;
Document issues found in data edits and application for corrective action; Document the extent to which data edits and application fail to meet requirements;
Work with carrier test data files, troubleshoot submissions, determine correctness of edits and provide direction on errors found, variances and error reports to obtain the highest percentage of data
Perform troubleshooting of data issues and identify resolutions to both technical and non-technical problems;
Provide information and support to Application Developers to assist in corrective action;
Comply with CHIA data security requirements and assist in identifying potential data security risks;
Work with CHIA QA and standardization analysts to provide information and support on data element edits;
Qualifications at Hire
Seasoned Application Program Tester with experience manipulating complex raw text files and querying data.
Knowledge/utilization of Excel (required) and SQL (highly desired) to assess invalid and missing data, edits and formats in All Payer Claims Data Submissions and Application Processing;
Experience working with health data, preferably medical claims, dental claims, and pharmacy claims and eligibility data highly desirable;
Extensive experience in meticulous data and application review to Client and eliminate all errors based on internal and external standards in accordance with the Data Submission Guidelines and recommend application and data edit refinements;
Demonstrated ability to evaluate data, to draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
Ability to identify and forecast problems, explores answers, make recommendations, and initiate solutions.
Excellent interpersonal skills: verbal, written, and presentation; Excellent documentation skills.
Ability to work independently.
