Job Title: ETL Developer
Job Location: Raleigh, NC
Duration: 6 months+
Job Description:
• Take ownership of the database design and technical delivery of data repository and related operational data stores, and related dataflows
• Work proactively to solve complex technical and data integration problems.
• Collect, document, and prioritize data requirements and create data models.
• Provide fully documented solution designs and detailed specifications to drive development work.
• Author source code for proof-of-concepts and solutions to difficult technical problems.
• Provide technical leadership on large, complex data warehousing and data integration projects.
• Assist in formulating and defining system scope and technical objectives.
• Interact with other project team members to negotiate timelines, responsibilities, and deliverables.
• Provide advanced technical troubleshooting of dataflows and database query performance.
• Develop, test, and document systems in accordance with SOPs, standards and validation procedures.
• Possess full knowledge of all phases of a full system development lifecycle.
• Experience with PL-SQL source code control, database build automation, and deployment automation.
• Work closely with fellow system developers to understand and support the end to end solutions design.
• Perform quality assurance peer review of work products such as code, designs, and test plans produced by other team members.
• Comply with regulatory requirements, SOPs and data standards.
• Performs other duties as directed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• A motivated self-starter and technical leader with a track record producing positive results.
• Proficiency in using Oracle 10g/11g Database to build large-scale data marts and data warehouses.
• Detailed knowledge of Oracle's best practices for building data warehouses, such as bulk loading large amounts of data, data partitioning, partition exchange loading, parallel processing, index and stats management, change data capture, and incremental data load techniques.
• Exposure to Master Data Management (MDM) concepts and techniques.
• Designing and developing databases and dataflows used for reporting, data warehousing and data integration purposes. Experience with both relational and star schemas.
• Demonstrated ability to create clear design documentation to technically guide mid-level developers, including detailed ERD diagrams, Gane-Sarson DFD's, and UML diagrams.
• Experiencing integrating data from multiple sources, including those outside network and system boundaries and sourced from different systems and technologies.
• PL-SQL language and advanced PL-SQL tuning skills.
• Developing advanced Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures and packages.
• A working knowledge of XML and XML schemas.
• Expert knowledge in common Oracle development and database modeling tools like SQL*Plus, Oracle SQL Developer, TOAD, and similar products
• Knowledge and experience performing SQL Tuning, and building ETL with tools like Informatica Power Center, Oracle Warehouse Builder and similar products.
• Possess excellent organizational, communication, and technical skills.
• Possess excellent aural, verbal, and written communications skills, to include writing/editing of technical documentation for international audiences; effective presentation skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and clients.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Master's Degree in computer science or related field with a minimum 7 years relevant work experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
DESIRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of clinical data used for clinical drug development.
• Experience with the clinical drug development industry, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Knowledge of CDISC ODM, SDTM, CDASH or ADAM standards.
• Experience with Oracle OBIEE or equivalent BI technology a plus.
• Additional proficiency in Java, C#.NET, or other application development experience a plus.
