Description of Business Area:    

The Loss Sensitive Utility (LSU) system is a custom system responsible for calculating and determining billable and non-billable claim activity for loss sensitive policies for Commercial Lines at Sentry.

REquired skills/ qualifications

• Bachelors Degree or equivalent education
• Proven experience in designing and developing enterprise class Java / JEE web applications
• Experience with RIA technologies – AJAX & jQuery
• Experience in JEE technologies: JSP, Servlets, EJB 3.0, JDBC, JPA & JPQL, JTA, JMS, XML, etc.
• Experience with the Struts2 MVC framework
• Experience with JBoss application server, Hibernate, and working knowledge of Eclipse & ANT
• Experience with OOAD design principles and modeling tools
• Database experience with SQL Server and DB2; SQL and stored procedures
• Multi-threading using core Java/MDB is a plus
• Insurance industry experience is a plus
• Strong communication skills

Scope of work

The Programmer Analyst role is a crucial role in developing, enhancing, optimizing and maintaining the Loss Sensitive Utility system.  The Programmer Analyst will interact with the Commercial Lines business areas and Business Analysts to understand and meet business requirements by delivering technology in an AGILE development environment.

• Participates in the detailed identification and development of program and system specifications.
• Provides input on cost analyses, systems and program design, testing, and maintenance and documentation of new and existing systems.
• Responds to systems problems by analyzing the problem, formulating a solution, and changing or repairing the system to avoid costly interruption of services to users.
• Performs other job-related duties requiring the same general knowledge, skills and degree of responsibility commensurate with assigned level.
