| The Application Engineer is responsible for building, testing, implementing and maintaining individual software applications to meet business needs. The work of the Application Engineer involves planning, analysis, design, developing/coding, testing, implementation and maintenance. The Application Engineer is focused on individual application components or subsystems within the scope of larger application systems, working under the direction experienced Application Engineers. The Application Engineer provides thought leadership to small-to-mid sized projects and may mentor less experienced staff. |

| General Duties and Responsibilities: - Work independently under the direction of a more senior staff member or manager
- Demonstrate deep expertise within assigned assets, information domains, technologies & platforms
- Provide thought leadership on small-to-medium sized efforts
- Solves a range of problems using existing process and solutions
- Understand and apply standard operating procedures and standards to implement and maintain assigned assets, technology or platform
- Successfully deliver the right results on initiatives in a timely and effective manner
- Mitigate risk within assigned assets, technologies or platforms
- Communicate within IT and with assigned business area to drive successful execution and maintenance of solutions
- Mentor junior staff as needed
Specific Duties and Responsibilities may include one or more of the following: Requirements Management - Use established requirements management methodology and tools, to identify, verify and document business, functional and technical requirements to support development of technology and/or business-driven technology solutions.
- Work with IT Architects and apply technical architecture standards and strategies to define business solutions, ensuring alignment with business strategies and priorities, as well as the target benefits expected.
- Ensure that the modified application components interact appropriately, data conversion impacts are considered, and other areas of impact are addressed.
- Identify new hardware/software technologies to fit specialized business needs and configurations.
Systems Design - Translate requirements into design specifications.
- Work with Infrastructure Engineers to define system solutions, ensuring alignment with technical strategies and priorities, as well as the target benefits expected.
- Provide traceability of design components to requirements.
Application Development - Design and document application components.
- Perform the development and configuration of applications from conceptualization through stabilization using various computer platforms.
- Support the leadership and vision established for the overall Application Engineer group.
- Perform the testing, debugging and documenting application.
Test Management - Perform testing and analysis to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and end-user requirements.
- Develop detailed test strategies and plans for modified systems based on technical and business specifications in accordance with company standards.
- Develop test cases in order to test and analyze each component/phase of the systems development life cycle including the project requirements, design and programs.
- Retest corrections to ensure problems are resolved.
- Document and communicate results.
- Work with Project Managers to plan, manage and track quality test plan.
Application Implementation & Maintenance - Plan all activities associated with implementation and maintenance of the application.
- Implement application by analyzing the current system environment, using technical tools and utilities, performing complex product customization, and developing implementation and verification procedures to ensure successful installation of systems hardware/software.
