has an immediate opening for a z/VM Computer Operator. Your skills are needed to assist a government entity located in Waukegan, IL 60087. In this role you will provide z/VM Computer Operations support for a IBM z/VM mainframe (zBC12) system in a combined z/VM-z/VSE environment. This would be running on an IFL in a z/VM LPAR that communicates to CICS systems in the z/VSE platform. The selected candidate will have multiple years of experience as a Systems Programmer. Activities will include preparing daily production schedules and handling user requests; preparing equipment for operation; obtaining, loading and unloading magnetic tapes, printing and monitoring disk storage; removing and preparing output for distribution; keeping required records; monitoring machine operation; Job restarts; performing routine maintenance operations on all equipment; first level problem determination/resolution; problem escalation to Level 2 System Programmers.
Candidates must be able to operate, setup, and maintain computer peripherals. As well as be able to identify and solve system problems with minimal assistance from technical staff. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain reports and other documentation.
Environment: z/VM 5.4, z/VM6.3, DB2/VM 7.5, DB2/LUW on RHEL (Red Hat Linux) in an IFL; CA Unicenter for VM; VMOPERATOR and HiDro Backup utilities, CICS/TS, z/VSE Libraries etc
