MySQL Database Administration (MySQL DBA)

Dallas, TX (REMOTE)

6+ Months

Essential Functions –

Build, manage and maintain MySQL 5.6 and 5.7 server environments

Install periodic software patches and new product releases

Design, define, optimize and develop databases as required

Oversee utilization of database and system log files

Manage and maintain user/group assignments within MySQL server

Report on MySQL server performance and operations

Troubleshoot and repair problems

Effectively build and execute backup/restoration plans and strategies

Maintain and improve Master to Slave and Master - Master Replication

Experience with MySQL, with detailed understanding of internals such as memory management, MyISAM, InnoDB and other storage engines

Comfortable with fast paced work environment

Other duties as assigned by Management

Preferred Functions -

Experience with Simpana CommVault and EMC Avamar Backup Solutions

Oracle RDBMS DBA Experience

Microsoft SQL Server DBA Experience

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor Degree in Information Science, Engineering, or other closely related discipline

MySQL certifications

Experience working in Linux and Microsoft operating system environments

Minimum of 4+ years in MySQL database management and design in an enterprise environment

Minimum of 2+ years in MySQL Replication /Clustering

Experience working in Multi Data Center MySQL Replication

Experience working with other RDBMS technologies (ie. Oracle RDBMS; MSSQL)
