 Pentaho Lead Developer

Detroit, MI

Non-local candidates will be considered.

  • Travel will be required for the initial 2 months.
  • Should be willing to Relocate to Detroit, MI.
  • This is a multi-year project.
  • Need to have ETL/Pentaho experience, as well as SSIS.
  • Need to have quick points signed for new vendors.


Position Summary:

  • Lead in developing and implementation of design from documented requirements, performs unit and integration testing, and supports system and acceptance testing as required.
  • Work with business to architect, design, and implement complex archive solution, including performing customer white-boarding session with program management and business analysts.
  • Work with the customer and partners to design, implement, and support end-to-end data solutions across multiple platforms, environments, domains, and locations.
  • Apply technologies (DB, SQL) to address business needs.
  • Participate by assisting in writing specifications, and constructing workflow charts and diagrams as needed.
  • Provide knowledge of clients' technical and business priorities, challenges, and initiatives that can be translated into archive solution opportunities.
  • Provide timely and accurate estimates; review other team members' estimates for completeness and accuracy.
  • Communicate business value to potential customers.
  • Develop and promote standard operating procedures. Look for process improvement opportunities.
  • Perform moderately complex set-up for solutions.
  • Resolve and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Update documentation of procedures and methods.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience leading an ETL team.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated ETL development experience, including use of ETL tools such as Pentaho, Talend, CloverETL, or similar.
  • 7+ years of demonstrated experience in two or more of the following:
     ~ ETL design and development, methodologies, tools, processes, and best practices.
     ~ Relational database design
     ~ Full development cycle, from requirements analysis through operations and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience with Data Quality and Data cleansing methodologies.
  • Strong SQL design, development, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with XML technologies:
     ~ XPath, XQuery, XSLT.
     ~ XML databases.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Degree in engineering, computer science, or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience in decomposing complex problems.
  • Experience with Talend.
  • Experience with Java technologies.
  • Experience with Web Technologies:
     ~ HTML5/CSS3.
     ~ JavaScript, AngularJS .
  • Experience with Agile methodologies; particularly. Scrum.
  • Experience with continuous integration technologies; i.e., Maven, Grails, Jenkins.
  • Experience as a consultant in Retail verticals.
  • Retail experience is a must.
