Hadoop Architect

West Chester , PA

Core Responsibilities:

• Work with business partners in understanding and translating business requirements into solution designs
• Take initiative and ownership to provide business solutions on time
• Profile, design, and model data and provide data product solutions using multiple data platforms.
• Lead and provide suggestions and best practices for end to end data delivery
• Design and architect with the right balance of performance, scalability, ease of consumption
• Design and architect data to support operational efficiencies and meet Service Level Agreements
• Design and architect data solutions with the mindset of "data as a product"
• Design and architect to accommodate data security and privacy
• Design and architect to accommodate data quality
• Design and architect to integrate multiple, complex data sources that are transactional and non-transactional, structured and unstructured data
• Deliver clear, well-communicated and complete design documents.
• Manage data standards and best practices related to end to end data process
• Analyze and solve problems and recommend improvements to existing systems and processes.
• Maintain data dictionaries and data lineage
• Work with peers in administration to tune code and plan for capacity needs
• Mentor and educate teams on standards and best practices

Required Skills

• Strong experience in end to end data management - data acquisition, data model, data storage, data access - with various tools and technologies
• Strong experience in data management and architecture in Teradata, and Hadoop tools and technologies. Hive, Pig, HBase, Sqoop, Kafka, Accumulo or other messaging tools - with hands on experience - a plus
• Strong experience in data management and architecture in RDBMS. SQL based tools - with hands on experience
• Strong experience in real time data acquisition in a data warehouse environment
• Strong Data modeling skills on large scale, high volume data, with experience in Power Designer or Erwin
• Thorough understanding of Dimensional modeling, 3NF/OLTP and experience in converting 3NF to Dimensional models, and models that support Hadoop
• Experience with continuous integration, test-driven/behavior-driven development, and agile development methodologies

Work Experience

• 2 years of experience in managing data in Hadoop/Bigdata Platform
• 10+ years of Data Management, Architecture, Modeling
• Experience managing and developing utilizing open source technologies and libraries including participation in the community
• Experience in data management for high performance on large Hadoop clusters
• Strong understanding of hadoop architecture, storage and IO subsystems, network and distributed systems
• Strong knowledge of scripting with shell scripting (Bash, PHP, PERL, Python,etc)
• Experience with versioning, change control and problem management
• Desired Skills/ Experience:
• Knowledge of NoSQL platforms
• Data Quality, Data Cleansing
