Duties:
Responsible for maintaining enterprise level storage infrastructure. Designs, plans, implements, administers, controls and provides support and optimization of Storage Area Networks (SANs) and pooled storage systems in coordination with other IT teams and related functions. This is part of a new implementation.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for planning, systems implementations and configurations related to storage installations. Performs host-level tasks needed to access new storage. Assists other departments with system restores, tape back-ups and troubleshooting.
• Creates and manages Storage Groups. Allocates Storage to Systems. Produces Weekly Storage Capacity Report
• Collaborates with support teams in the Systems Management, Applications Development, Network Operations, Telecommunications and PC/LAN areas to optimize storage use
• Manages backup policies and schedules, tape devices and system client configurations. Restores and recovers data as requested. Facilitates off-site storage of tape
• Resolves Storage performance issues (availability, data migrations and replications) and advises end users
• Assists in writing technical and operational management documentation (system design and engineering documents, operational runbooks)
• Completes support tickets in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
• Responsible for benchmarking and tuning server hardware and software for optimal system performance
Requirements:
• 5 years of Storage experience
• Strong experience and expertise in 3PAR Admin/configuration and management
• Experience with other products such as EMC, Hitachi, etc.
• UNIX OS experience ( Linux)
• VMware experience
• Provide assistance in escalation and tracking of trouble tickets as they are opened with the support organization
• Strong experience from an operation perspective (I.E. Adds, changes, removals, exports,, zoning information, LUNs, raid groups, etc..) and updating documentation as changes are made.
o Provide guidance and input in formulating procedures in order to react to operational events.
o Perform performance analysis and tuning where appropriate.
o Excellent communication/written skills and a strong work ethic
o Good writing skills and ability to multi task in the support of this project
