Duration:: 3-6 months

 

Project: Client has a number of mid to large scale platform initiatives for the next 3- 6 months.  The developer will be working on client side application logic and ui / style. Our tech stack is Node / Express and React / Sass. We can bend a little on the React part (I would settle for strong Angular, backbone etc) if we find it hard to get contractors with this limitation.

  

Contractor MUST haves:

• Experience working in medium to large size Single Page Applications
• Experience with React and sass
• Independent developer capable of turning a story (task) into code; asks questions when needed.

• 6 People (4 Web Engineers, 1 Senior Web Engineer, 1 Manager)
• Closely working with:
• EPM (Engineering Program Manager)
• SVP, Flagship Product Management
• Associate Product Manager, Web
• Reporting Manager: Director of Engineering

Responsibilities include:

Current role: we are looking for someone who does web application development. This includes that includes caching, session management, pre-rendering, HTTP, and Cookies. 

• Technology 
• React.JS
• Modern build process NPM and Browserify
• Moving into a web pack 
• SASS for styling 
• Service layer is REST backed by Scala and our Web backend is in Node
• Skill set 
• Prefer – worked on application (react, angular, backbone application)
• Understand functional programming approach
• Good understand of NPC patterns (MVC – design patterns)
• Unit testing – Frameworks (Jasmin, Mocha)
• Nice to Have
• Aware of Build and release frameworks
• CI/CD workflows 

Success Evaluation:

• Demonstrated experience:
• working with cross functional teams
• 80% or more of hands on coding
• understanding of web architecture, monitoring frameworks,CI (continuous integration), build/deploy automation

The team has a number of site wide initiatives that are about to begin and we need your help to shape the future of internet radio!  In this role, expect to be involved in building new core features and have a strong focus on improving the experience of our mobile web users.  The right candidate understands application level design patterns and can break down complex tasks in clear and concise ways.  You should have a strict attention to detail and be comfortable learning and applying the newest concepts within our industry. We expect you to jump into our tech stack  (node / react / es2015 / docker) and make a difference.  We thrive in the bleeding edge of our industry and are always looking to push ourselves and our platform further.  Also, if you feel that mobile web is an area of untapped potential, this is the role for you!

Responsibilities: 

• Develop and deploy new features and enhancements on iheart.com
• Propose and advocate for clean, functional design systems
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code
• Produce responsive and cross browser/platform features
• Build reusable components and scalable architecture
• Introduce and understand development best practices, usability, and semantics
• Work with our backend services team to ensure a cohesive end product

Requirements:                                               

• 2+ years of experience developing data-driven web applications
• Experience with application frameworks / libraries (React / Angular / Ember / Backbone etc), React a huge plus 
• Comfortable coding in vanilla JavaScript, knowledge of Javascript fundamentals. ES6/ES2015 a plus
• Experience with front-end performance optimization techniques
• Knowledge of HTML semantics, the DOM API, CSS fundamentals and the basics of HTTP, knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, new APIs and HTTP2 a plus
• Desire to continuously learn new languages, platforms and skills
