The U.S. Law Firms Technology (USLFT) organization delivers premium web-based online legal research tools and intelligent content integration solutions for high-profile professionals and firms in North America utilizing cutting edge tools and development methodologies.
We collaborate with key business and technical personnel to implement customer-centric solutions in support of Client Legal initiatives.
We are looking for a motivated individual who has solid technical credentials and is also a self-starter for the position of Sr. Software Engineer within the New Product Technologies - Content Technology development team.
In this critical role, you will collaborate with key business and technical personnel to implement customer-centric solutions in support of West's New Product Development initiatives.
We utilize Agile methods and practices, including time-boxed rapid and continuous builds, as well as a close, daily cooperation between the business people and developers in an open floor plan environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain application software
- Gather, document and interpret user requirements
- Create and maintain design and development documentation
- Define project development estimates and timelines
- Collaborate effectively in a team environment with other developers, team leads, business users, and internal technical contacts towards completion of configuration, development, and unit testing
- Timely communication of status to project leaders in oral and written formats
- Recognize and communicate opportunities to add value through the application of new technology solutions
- Extend, enhance and maintain current systems to allow for flexibility, stability, and scalability while preserving existing functionality
- Effectively balance and prioritize multiple projects concurrently
- Participate in and lead feature requirement gathering and design
- Provide technical knowledge and leadership to fellow team members
- Participate in Pair Programming and execute on test driven development using Junit
- Collaborate with architects, software engineers, and software testers on design decisions, direction for web application requirements, providing test acceptance criteria, and mentor less senior personnel
- Participate with business units using Agile techniques and practices to identify requirements and designs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related software technology field, or demonstrated job experience equating to a degree is preferred
- 9 years of Java/J2EE design and development experience
- 5 years experience with Java script, xml and html
- 5 years of web application development experience with scripting language and JSP
- 5 years of experience working with Oracle / SQL Server databases
- 5 years experience with SQL, stored procedures and database design
- 5 years of experience with Shell scripting in UNIX environment
- 5 years of experience with Object Oriented software development process
- 5 years of experience with JSF
- 4 year of experience with jQuery
- Experience with Spring Batch preferred
- Experience with Content Transformations preferred
- Experience with XML and XML parsing techniques
- Experience with unit testing tools such as Junit
- Strong oral and written communication skills
