Description:
This position requires in depth technical expertise with WebSphere technologies to ensure Web Services Team provides our business customers with the software and services upon which their applications run. This position acts independently to develop and apply technical expertise in one or more IT disciplines that support the organization's web infrastructure. The position promotes technical standards and contributes to project teams in their area of expertise.
Requirements:
Major Opportunities and Decisions:
Operates effectively as part of a team and manages own work
Provides technical expertise, documentation and direction in support of Web Services Systems
Supports transition and support initiatives
Provides tertiary support to the Web Services team for non-production environments
Communications Skills:
Exceptional oral and written communications skills are essential
Responsible for writing procedural documentation and standard operating procedures/triage guides in a clear, concise manner, adhering to standards
Responsible for developing procedural flowcharts and swim lane diagrams
Responsible for delivering training overviews to Level One staff and assisting them through the learning process
Responsible for communicating with technical staff and management regarding complex technical issues
Customer Role
Ability to understand business problems and technology challenges and present solution options
Decision Making
Chooses an approach or procedure for addressing a work task, with limited direction
Assesses different technical options and recommends an approach
Knowledge:
Business Knowledge
Understands business requirements and their impact on the technical direction of a solution. Familiar with business issues and business applications of technologies supported
Understand products, services, and technical processes as they relate to supported systems
Problem Solving
Designs technical solutions independently, often requiring non-linear analysis, such as charting decision trees and multiple interdependencies
Education:
BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Computer Science.
Experience:
Typically candidates will possess 5+ years of relevant experience
3-5 years experience in supporting large AIX & Intel environments
3-5 years experience in installing, maintaining, and supporting IBM WebSphere Application Server products on AIX and Windows
3-5 years experience in installing, maintaining, and supporting web servers - IBM HTTP server, Microsoft IIS, Apache
Experience with any of the following is a plus – WebSphere Portal, Tivoli Access Manager, Apigee XML gateway, Oracle Universal Content Management (Stellent), IBM FileNet, WebSphere MQ, WebSphere Edge components, Openconnect
Excellent understanding of enterprise system design and standardized change management procedures
Possesses expertise in at least a single technical area and within it can independently determine and resolve most problems. Develops working knowledge of multiple technologies
Ability to occasionally work different shifts in order to deliver training to Level One staff.
