Description:
Communicate effectively and provide technical leadership to Platform Solutions Manager in the organization.
• Researches and prescribes the best practices for advanced databases and features working with Sr. Database Architect.
• Works closely with Sr. Database Architect in implement "As a Service" design model for various NoSQL and RDBMS database technology.
• Own installation, configuration, integration, and management of database servers
Plan and lead deployment of database software, tools and best practices, including but not limited to MySQL (Various Distributions), NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, Riak, Redis, Hbase ).
• Function tests new DBMS / NOSQL version releases and fixes, including compatibility testing and documentation of steps and issues.
• Perform advanced tests and documents database best practices, including upgrade strategies and deployment paths.
• Plan and execute broad resolutions to recurring database problems.
• Conduct complex problem prevention, resolution and integration planning.
• Provide technical leadership in database design, development, implementation and consulting to the Application development community.
• Maintain accurate logs of trouble isolation and repair efforts and escalate/communicate issues to management as needed.
• Support and enhance business-critical database infrastructure for NBCUniversal consumer facing environments.
• Provide high availability & database-tuning solutions and work with customers to implement the solutions.
• Support any L3 Technical escalations and work with different teams of an effective solution.
• Create and Document technical processes in great details, which could be followed by L1&L2 support teams.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree OR a minimum of 8+ years supporting DB infrastructure running in a Linux and/or Unix environment.
• Experience with or knowledge of one or more technologies in MongoDB, MYSQL and other NoSQL databases.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience Specifically MongoDB which includes DB builds.
• High Availability Setup, Scaling data using sharding,
• Deep knowledge in Performance tuning areas , Like Arch,HA,Data scaling.
• 3 + Years' experience in setting up in on-prem MMS tools
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, implementing Disaster Recovery solutions for MySQL, Cassandra, Mongo DB.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment, streamline processes and prioritize.
• Excellent Documentation skills.
Desirable Skills:
• Expert skills in several of the following DB's such as Oracle & Community MySQL (myISAM & InnoDB), Maria DB, Mongo DB, Cassandra.
• Experience in working on AWS (RDS) is a definite plus.
• Hands on experience on either of the Automation tools – Ansible/Salt/Chef/Puppet. Ansible hands on experience
• Public Cloud experience with any of the following: AWS, Azure, terremark,vCloud, Rackspace VPC, etc.
• Enterprise level Application Integration experience on AWS/Azure is highly preferred.
• Experience supporting high traffic B2C sites.
• Expert skills in several of the following DB's such as Oracle & Community MySQL (myISAM & InnoDB), Maria DB, Mongo DB, Cassandra
